Cairnzy offered to do both of the racing threads on Sunday, so I obliged.

His sole runner on the main thread was quite strong in the market, backed in from 2/1 to 13/8 second fav.

Unfortunately, the horse finished in last place. Due to being busy, I didn't get the time to watch the race. From what I have seen, he made a small mistake three from home, and after that, he had little more to give.

Pachacuti 2/1 (1pt) – Plumpton 2.15

I do try to avoid the conditional jockey races, but this season we've seen many of the inexperienced riders show how good they are. Rian Corcoran has been great for the David Pipe stable, so with him taking off 8lbs in this race off Pachacuti's back, he looks like a player.

Pachacuti is not a prolific winner, but was a consistent handicapper a couple of years ago. He lost his way at the end of the 2025 season and start of the new season, but his run last time out was a bounce back to form.

They tried the visor last time out at Ffos Las, and it worked well. He retains the visor and is now running off a 5lb lower mark with Rian in the saddle. The form of the race has been franked by a number of horses in the race, so there's every reason to believe Pachacuti is the one to beat in this race.

We know he stays the trip and handles the ground. The only unknown is the track, but that shouldn't be an issue, as it's quite a standard track with few complications.

Icare Grandchamp 15/8 (2pt) – Plumpton 3.15

I think 15/8 available on Icare Grandchamp is very generous from the bookies, and I think he is going to be a tough horse to beat if reproducing the form from last time out.

Gary & Josh Moore's horse bumped into Throatlast, who was a winner for the thread in that race. The winner was evidently ahead of the handicapper and had some good form prior to winning the race.

Icare Grandchamp didn't get the clearest of runs through last time out, which makes his performance even better. The drop in trip shouldn't hinder him, with the ground likely to turn heavy, the added stamina he has is only seen as a positive.
