Rizz has left Cairnzy in charge of both racing threads on Sunday. Rizz will return tomorrow evening for Monday's racing.
Neither of Rizzel's selections was able to land a blow on Saturday. Below The Radar ran a decent race but was ultimately well beaten by A Pai De Nom, who ran out an easy winner for the Skelton yard.
Rizzel's other selection was the Skelton-trained Let It Rain, who was extremely disappointing and was never really involved in the race at all. The ground at Newbury was extremely testing, but she does handle those sorts of conditions, so I'm totally sure what the reason was for the no-show.
Gold Dancer 2/1 – Navan 3.50
The quality of racing this Sunday is pretty dire, and I'm dreading having to pick out four selections for the Lucky 15 thread before even starting this one!
Anyway! I've decided to take on the odds-on favourite Oscars Brother in this Grade 2 contest at Navan over 3m. Only four runners line up for this contest, and on paper it looks like a two-horse shoot-out between my selection Gold Dancer and the already mentioned Oscars Brother.
My selection has been given a short break since finding Grade One company a step too far. He finished runner-up to both Romeo Coolio and Final Demand in his recent two outings, beaten easily by 8L on both occasions. Romeo Coolio somewhat boosted the form recently by winning last time out. Final Demand, on the otherhand did not, when being turned over at short odds at this year's DRF. With that said, I thought something was definitely amiss with Final Demand in that contest and I think you'll see a different animal come this years Cheltenham festival.
Before those recently mentioned Grade One contests, Gold Dancer was in great form, rattling off a hat trick of wins during the Autumn time. My selection drops back into Grade One company for this race, and he looks the value bet at 2/1 to upset the odds on shot Oscars Brother, who arrives in great form and is certainly a horse on the up.
