Aerospace provided us with another winner yesterday after getting up on the line to win by a neck. My second selection was an each-way play on Far Above Mary who missed out on the placings by one which was unfortunate. She ran far too green and was pushed on fairly early into the race. Similar to her previous outing, she stayed on in the final furlong which suggests she probably needs further.
I've two selections for Tuesdays racing that come from Thirsk and Southwell.
Illusionist 10/1 EW – 16:15 Thirsk
It's been nearly two years since Illusionist last got his head in-front and whilst his form figures are far from inspiring I couldn't not have a small each way bet on him at the prices.
He is a horse who tends to need things to fall in his favour and with a strong pace more than likely guaranteed along with some cut in the ground which he enjoys, I thought that maybe today could be his day.
He recently had a rattle on the all weather running over both 6f/7f and despite hitting the frame on a few occasions he ended with 0 wins from 10 runs. He returns to the turf tomorrow 10lb lower than his previous run, down in class over this trip for the first time and also off a career low mark. I thought the drop back in trip to a stiff 5f was a good move from connections as this race should turn into a stamina test which I think will play to his strengths.
Robusto 11/4 – 6:00 Southwell
Robusto looks a strong recruit for the Eve Johnston yard after recently changing hands from Sir Mark Prescott at the beginning of the month. He looked a real nice type under Sir Mark Prescott when winning with something in hand on his last two outings on the all weather.
At the beginning of his racing career he was campaigned over 7f but showed very little on those outings. It wasn't long until connections opted to put him up in trip to race over middle distances (1m4f/1m5f) which seemed to spark him into life, recent form figures 131343121.
Eve Johnston has wasted no time in stepping him up again in trip to 1m6f and although he has a short layoff to prove as well as a 6lb rise in the weights I think Robusto has yet to hit his full potential and could improve even further.
Jim Crowley is an eye-catching jockey booking for the ride and the Eve Johnston yard are in good shape at present so everything points to a big run.

Won a listed all weather race last month so should be fit.
Karl burke sends korker over but hasn’t run since last October.
Was actually looking at Korker myself Elvis, don’t follow the French racing personally so I tend to avoid putting up UK runners over there given I don’t follow the French side of things.
The layoff as you’ve already mentioned would probably put you off given the nature of the race but he’s a good act on his day.

Burke regularly sends horses over to frog.
A good yardstick would be his spycatcher who finished about 8 lengths ahead of Siam paragon here last summer on good ground.
If korker is anywhere near as good as spycatcher then my pick is doomed, spycatcher was a decent group 1 performer in 2023 while korker was probably a listed performer which today’s race is so with the 5 month lay off who knows.
Anything can happen in these 5 furlongs dashes so it will be fast and furious.
Poor ride from Mr Lee on Worker, got the horse stuck behind a wall of horses with nowhere to go,.

Dukes Of Haather 2.15 Thirsk 4/1
Was strongly fancied in the Brockelsby. Compensation could well await here today. Was slowy away but started to get the idea late on, running on well. Finishing 7th beaten just over 4 length.
What caught my eye was his sire was a juvenile winner and also the dam was a winner on debut at 2.
Yards runners have been running right up to form. Only 1 of their last 6 runners has finished outside of the first two so the yard could be about to hit form.
Yard have run Only 1 other 2 year old this season which finished second.
Alice Haynes has the favourite in this race today which also ran in the Brockelsby finishing 4th. Her record at Thirsk is worth noting. She has a 60% strike rate with 6 from 10 in the last 5 seasons. She has a 100% record with 3 from 3 in non handicaps. She has a 67% strike rate in handicaps with 4 from 7. ( She has 3 runners here today)
I’m on this today for a half stake so far at 4s, but I’m heading up to Thirsk now so I’ll get a good luck at these before they race and decide whether to play the other half. As always I’ll have my finger on the lay button just incase I don’t like what I see. Extra important with these 2 year olds. Never be afraid to lay off your bet if you don’t like what you see in the paddock/ going down/ at the start/ loading up. Most punters are scared to take a loss laying their bet off . I’ll take 30% loss on my stake fairly often. Just thought it was worth mentioning as most punters seem to believe they are stuck with their bet. The exchanges was the biggest gift to punters. If your not on the exchanges I guarantee you aren’t making profit from racing.

Hibee1 . Dont normally bet on flat myself but someone yesterday mentioned Dukes of Haather so have been following betting.
Your post was between 6am and 7 am and the best price anywhere was 13/8 a lot of firms at 11/8 which can be checked on oddschecker . Could you please say where 4/1 came from that is an amazing price.
