Friday’s Racing Tips – Wade Out steps up to 3m 1f in attempt of landing Class 1 honours

It was a great shame to see Lunar Orbit not make an appearance at Sedgefield, but Formel Park made up for it with a tough win over the fences.

I'm not 100% certain why Lunar Orbit was withdrawn moments before the start. He was punted off the boards throughout the day, more than halving in price.

Formel Park did not jump with supreme accuracy over the Sedgefield fences, and looked beaten at many points. Fair play to Conor Ring who battled tenaciously to get the win when the horse must've traded a lot higher in running. I don't think he will have much up his sleeve when the handicapper takes a look, but maybe he wants further.

Wade Out 9/4 (2pt) – Cheltenham 2.20

When it comes to novice chase races at Class 1 level, I think you can often see horses improve many pounds to get the victory. Going off the market, it wouldn't be a shock to see Wade Out win, but on official ratings, he has a fair bit to improve.

I think Wade Out made a nice start to life over fences last time out at Worcester. Similar conditions applied last time out, as he beat a much higher rated horse off level weights, so he shown it can be done.

From last year, I got the feeling that Olly Murphy really liked this horse, and it was a small shock that he didn't progress over hurdles. He was floating around at big prices for the Cheltenham races from the early parts of the season, but that is still a showcase of the talent punters thought he had.

Chasing was always likely to be his game rather than hurdles, as he was a winner over PTPs. Today's step up in trip is an unknown. He did win over 3m in his sole PTP run, but that's different to 3m 1f around Cheltenham. I think the way that Olly Murphy fires in winners, it's hard to argue against him.

Paper Mill 3/1 (1pt) – Southwell 12.57

Unfortunately, the price which I wanted is no longer around. The website encountered a few technical issues, and as a result, we've missed the 13/2 on Paper Mill.

This horse is making his proper chasing debut over rules. He has had two runs over fences, but they were in Hunters' chases, which can't be taken serious.

However, Stuart Edmunds has started the new season off really well and is not a slouch when it comes to training chasers. There is unexposed horses in this race, but sometimes having plenty of experience makes it too difficult for the younger ones to win.

Paper Mill have won seven races over the PTPs, which gives me plenty of confidence he'll be pinging the fences around Southwell, which isn't a huge jumping test.
