After frustratingly falling a goal short at Wrexham on Tuesday, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Europa League, and I’ve highlighted a selection involving one of the matches.
⚽️ Rangers vs Ludogorets
🇪🇺 Europa League
⏰ Thursday 22 January, 20:00
Rangers will look to finally claim their first win in the league phase of the Europa League tomorrow night as they welcome perennial Bulgarian champions Ludogorets to Ibrox.
Rangers have endured a humiliating Europa League league phase campaign, as they have picked up a solitary point across their six encounters (W0-D1-L5), meaning they are effectively already eliminated.
However, things have been going far better domestically for Danny Rohl’s men, with their 0-2 victory at Pittodrie against Aberdeen two Sundays ago making it five consecutive wins in the Premiership, leaving them just six points behind leaders Hearts.
Ludogorets’s hopes of winning a record-breaking 15th consecutive Bulgarian First League title are in serious doubt, as they currently lie seven points behind leaders Levski Sofia despite taking 13 points from their last five matches.
Per-Mathias Hogmo’s visitors failed to make it back-to-back 3-2 victories in the Europa League last time out, as they conceded in the 90th minute to draw 3-3 at home to PAOK.
That draw leaves the Bulgarian champions just inside the knockout places in 23rd spot in the league phase table, above 25th-placed Dinamo Zagreb only on goal difference.

Bet of the Day
As alluded to, Rangers have been extremely disappointing in Europe and despite effectively already been eliminated, Rohl is expected to play a strong side to keep their winning run going.
Rohl is beginning to turn Ibrox into a fortress again, with the German boasting a W7-D2-L1 record at their Govan base – with their only loss coming against Roma back at the beginning of November – conceding a solitary goal across their last six matches.
Ludogorets travel to Glasgow having picked up six more points than their hosts (W2-D1-L3) in the league phase, but the perennial Bulgarian champions aren’t the best travellers, having lost four of their last five continental clashes on the road, shipping 12 goals.
Therefore, I’m happy to take a chance on the Teddy Bears clinching their first league phase victory at the seventh time of asking.
