Football Bet of the Day: No Manager But No Shortage of Goals Involving Notts

After making in nine wins from 10 in Holland on Friday night, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the EFL, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Notts County begin life without manager Luke Williams at Blundell Park on Saturday afternoon as they travel to 20th-placed Grimsby in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

David Artell’s hosts have scored 35 goals across their opening 26 matches in League Two this term, with 19 (51%) of them coming on home soil. The Mariners have found the back of the net in 21/26 (81%) of their league contests – including in 11 of their previous 12 in front of their supporters – and will look to find the back of the net once again against a Notts defence that has recorded just two clean sheets in the league away from home this season, conceding 28 goals.

Notts County are the highest scorers in League Two, scoring 55 goals across their opening 26 matches, with 20 (36%) of them coming on their travels. The Magpies have only failed to find the back of the net in three of their league contests this term – scoring in 10 of their previous 11 on the road – and they will look to breach a Grimsby defence that has registered just four shutouts this season, with just one of them coming across their last 19.

Notts County’s opening 13 League Two tussles on the road this season are averaging 3.69 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in eight (62%) of them, including in six of their previous eight – and given the same has landed in seven of Grimsby’s last nine in front of their supporters – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be a minimum of three strikes, with both sides finding the target.
