After making it consecutive winners in Edinburgh on Thursday, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Scottish third tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Airdrieonians vs East Kilbride

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 League One

⏰ Saturday 8 August, 15:00

Two clubs that were two divisions apart last season meet at Excelsior Stadium in the Scottish League One on Saturday afternoon as Airdrieonians host East Kilbride.

Airdrieonians managed to avoid finishing bottom of the Scottish Championship table at Ross County’s expense last season, and received a second shot at survival in the playoffs.

However, the Diamonds lost their semi-final tie 1-3 on aggregate against Alloa Athletic, ending their three-year stay in the Championship.

John Rankin’s hosts were eliminated in the group stages of the League Cup after three defeats from four, but opened up their League One campaign last weekend with a goalless draw away at Cove Rangers.

East Kilbride earned promotion to the Scottish third tier for the first time in their history, as they won the Scottish League Two title after finishing six points clear of nearest challengers Spartans.

Mick Kennedy’s visitors were also eliminated in the group stages of the League Cup after two wins and two defeats – but began their League One campaign with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Queen of the South.

Bet of the Day

EK’s matches have been good fun to follow so far this season, with their opening five league and cup games producing a staggering 29 goals, with Over 2.5 Goals landing on each occasion and Over 3.5 Goals paying out in each of the past four.

Airdrieonians were held to a goalless draw away at Cove Rangers in their league opener last weekend, but 3/4 (75%) of their League Cup matches did go Over 2.5 Goals – including both on home soil.

Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 2.75 Asian goal. This would mean if there are exactly three goals scored, we will receive a half-stakes winner, whilst four or more strikes will reward a full payout.
