⚽️ Turkiye vs Romania

🇪🇺 World Cup Qualifying

⏰ Thursday 26 March, 17:00

Turkiye will look to move a step closer to qualifying for the World Cup finals for the first time since their third-place finish in 2002, as they welcome Romania to Istanbul in their semi-final playoff tie, in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Vincenzo Montella’s hosts have scored an impressive 17 goals across their opening six World Cup qualifiers, with six (35%) of them coming at home.

The Crescent-Stars only blanked at home in qualifying at home to group winners Spain – scoring 2+ goals in each of the other five (83%) – and will be confident of breaching a Romania backline that failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their four qualifiers away from home (even conceding at minnows San Marino), shipping multiple goals in each of the last three at Austria, Cyprus and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Mircea Lucescu’s visitors have scored 19 goals across their opening eight qualifiers, with nine (47%) of them coming on their travels.

The Tricolorii have made the net bulge in each of their previous seven qualifiers – notching on multiple occasions in four (57%) of them – and will look to trouble a Turkiye backline that kept a solitary shutout across their six qualifiers, shipping 12 goals.

Bet of the Day

Turkiye’s opening six World Cup qualifiers have averaged a whopping 4.83 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in five (83%) of them.

Romania’s qualifiers away from home have also been full of goals, with their opening four road trips averaging 4.25 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in all four (100%).

Therefore, I’m happy to back on there being at least three goals in Istanbul on Thursday, with the free-scoring hosts scoring at least two of them.

  • Turkiye to Score Over 1.5 Goals & Over 2.5 Match Goals
