Football Bet of the Day

After a quiet week due to the international break, the Football Bet of the Day returns on Saturday and sees me focus on the EFL, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Fleetwood Town vs Swindon Town

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 League Two

⏰ Saturday 15 November, 15:00

Swindon will look to potentially go top of the League Two table on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Highbury to take on mid-table Fleetwood Town in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Pete Wild’s hosts have scored 22 goals across their opening 15 league outings this season, with 14 (64%) of those coming across their seven home contests.

The Cod Army have found the back of the net in each of their opening seven League Two tussles on home soil, notching on multiple occasions in four (57%) of them – including in each of their last three – and will look to continue their fine goal-scoring record at home against a Swindon backline that has kept just four clean sheets in the league this season.

Ian Holloway’s visitors are the third-highest scorers in the English fourth tier, firing in 26 goals across their opening 15 matches, with 12 (46%) of them coming across their seven road trips.

The Robins have failed to score just three times in the league this campaign – striking multiple goals in 10 of their previous 14 – and will be confident of breaching a Fleetwood defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last nine league encounters and just one in their past 14.

Bet of the Day

Fleetwood’s opening seven League Two encounters on home soil this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.71 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in five (71%) of them, including in each of their last three (4-2, 3-2 & 2-1).

Swindon’s opening 15 fixtures in the English fourth tier this term have averaged 3.07 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in a league-high 11 (73%) of them, including in 6/7 (86%) of their away clashes (1-2, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1, 2-3, 1-0 & 0-4).

Goals have been a feature at Highbury Stadium this season, and I expect that trend to continue tomorrow afternoon, given how high-scoring Swindon’s matches have tended to be under Ian Holloway.

  • Over 2.5 Goals
  • Pays 4/5 (Various)
