Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs at opposite ends of the German 2. Bundesliga table meet at the Fritz Walter Stadion on Saturday lunchtime as promotion-chasing Kaiserslautern entertain bottom side Greuther Furth in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Torsten Lieberknecht’s hosts have fired in 35 goals across their opening 21 matches in the 2. Bundesliga this term, with a league-high 25 (71%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Die Roten Teufel have failed to score in just one of their opening 11 league outings on home soil, notching on multiple occasions in seven (64%) of them – including in four of their past five – and will be confident of adding to their impressive gaol-tally at home against a Greuther Furth backline that is yet to register a clean sheet on their travels this season, shipping a league-high 28 goals.
Heiko Vogel’s visitors have scored 32 goals across their opening 21 matches in the German second tier this term, with 18 (56%) of them coming on their travels.
The Shamrocks have failed to score in just three of their opening 11 road trios this campaign, striking 2+ goals in six (55%) of them – including in three of their past five – and will look to breach a Kaiserslautern backline that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous 10 league matches at home.

Greuther Furth’s opening 11 away matches in the German second tier this campaign have averaged a league-high 4.18 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in nine (82%) of them – including in six of their past seven – whilst eight (73%) have produced goals at both ends (2-3, 5-4, 3-1, 0-1, 0-6, 1-2, 2-4, 2-2, 1-2, 0-2 & 2-1).
Given both teams’ records at either end of the pitch, I’m expecting a high-scoring encounter in Southwest Germany on Saturday lunchtime.
