After once again falling a goal short at Livingston on Saturday, Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to Serie A, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by three points in the Serie A table meet at Marassi on Monday evening as 17th-placed Genoa host 15th-placed Cagliari in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Danielle De Rossi’s hosts have scored 19 goals across their opening 19 Serie A fixtures this season, with 15 (79%) of them coming across their last 10 matches.
After failing to score in five of their opening nine Serie A fixtures of the season, The Grifone have found the back of the net in nine of their next 10 – scoring two or more in five (50%) of them coming – and will be confident of continuing their recent knack of finding the back of the net against a Cagliari backline that has recorded a solitary shutout on their travels this campaign, shipping 2+ goals in five of their last seven.
Fabio Pisacane’s visitors have scored 21 goals across their opening 19 Serie A fixtures this term, with 11 (52%) of them coming on their travels.
The Sardinians have found the back of the net in all 10 of their matches against teams positioned in 10th and below in the Serie A table meet – notching on multiple occasions in seven (70%) of them – and will look to continue that trend against a Genoa defence that has kept just one clean sheet since the opening day of the season and none in their past 12.

After seeing just one goal scored across their opening two Serie A fixtures this season, Genoa’s next 17 have averaged 2.76 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in 13 (76%) of them.
Cagliari’s opening 19 Serie A contests this campaign have averaged 2.53 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 11 (58%) of them, including in each of their last four and seven of their past nine away from home.
These two clubs played out a six-goal thriller in the reverse fixture at the end of November in Sardinia, and I’m hoping we see a similarly entertaining encounter at Marassi on Monday evening.
