After making it six winners from my last seven BOTD columns in Ireland on Friday, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Scottish Premiership, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Falkirk vs Motherwell
🏴 Premiership
⏰ Saturday 2 May, 15:00
An entertaining encounter looks on the cards at the Falkirk Stadium on Saturday afternoon as sixth-placed Falkirk host European-chasing Motherwell in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
John McGlynn’s hosts have scored 46 goals across their opening 34 matches back in the Scottish top flight, with 29 (63%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Bairns have blanked in just two of their opening 17 league outings on home soil – scoring on multiple occasions in three of their last four and four of their past six – and will be confident of adding to their impressive goal-scoring record at home against a Motherwell defence that has conceded 13 goals across their last six league outings, shipping 2+ goals in five (83%) of them.
Jens Berthel Askou’s visitors have scored 55 goals across their opening 34 clashes in the Scottish top flight this term, with 26 (47%) of them coming on their travels.
The Steelmen have gotten on the scoresheet in 13 of their past 16 Premiership fixtures on their travels – including in each of their last seven – and will look to trouble a Bairns backline that has kept just three clean sheets at home this season, shipping 12 goals across their last four.

Bet of the Day
Falkirk’s matches have gone goal-crazy in recent months, particularly at home, with their last six Premiership encounters in front of their supporters averaging a whopping 4.83 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in each of the last four and five of their past six previous six.
Motherwell’s recent away matches have also not been short of goals, with their past five road trips averaging an eye-catching 4.20 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing on each occasion.
What’s more, these two clubs played out a five-goal thriller in North Lanarkshire at the beginning of last month, and another high-scoring clash looks likely at the Falkirk Stadium on Saturday.
- Over 2.5 Goals
