The international break leaves a reduced EFL programme, with no Championship fixtures and only three League One matches. League Two provides the larger part of Saturday's card, but a smaller schedule does not require weaker selections to fill space.

League One provides two fixtures where results and underlying performance tell different stories. Reading welcome leaders Bradford City, whose strong away return has come from limited chance production. The visitors must also prepare under interim coaches following Graham Alexander's move to Preston North End.

Burton Albion face Huddersfield Town after the two clubs experienced contrasting fortune in their latest matches. Burton won despite losing the expected-goals battle, while Huddersfield were beaten after creating the stronger chances.

The League Two selection comes from Accrington Stanley against Cheltenham Town, where the scoring records, venue splits and defensive numbers support an open contest.

Recent results provide context, but the selections rely on xPTS, xG, xGA, chance creation and home and away performance. Managerial changes also matter where they create material disruption.

Reading v Bradford City

League One leaders Bradford City face one of their most difficult away tests when they travel to Reading on Saturday. The Bantams have won five of seven league matches, while Reading sit four points behind after taking 11 points from the same number of fixtures.

The league table does not reflect the underlying gap. Reading rank second for xPTS with 13.91 and hold a +6.97 xG difference. Bradford have collected 15 points despite recording a +0.40 xG difference.

Reading have produced their strongest performances at home. Four fixtures have brought 13 goals, with victories over Mansfield Town, Blackpool and Notts County following an opening defeat against Luton Town. They average 2.49 xG at home while allowing 1.00 xGA.

Bradford have won three of four away matches, but their attacking output raises concerns. They average 0.51 xG on the road and have generated 2.05 xG across those fixtures. Their victories at Sheffield Wednesday, Notts County and Luton Town were all secured by a 1-0 scoreline.

Luton created 1.16 xG to Bradford's 0.30 in the latest of those wins. The Bantams scored from five shots and protected another narrow advantage.

Graham Alexander's departure for Preston North End adds uncertainty. Existing coaches Mark Trueman and Colin Doyle will lead a squad familiar with its system, reducing the prospect of major tactical disruption. Losing Alexander and assistant Chris Lucketti still affects preparation.

Reading were denied victory at Wycombe Wanderers by a 90th-minute equaliser after leading twice. Their attacking process and Bradford's unsustainable away return make the home side an attractive bet.

Burton Albion v Huddersfield Town

Fortune has played a major part in the recent results of Burton Albion and Huddersfield Town. Burton return home after winning 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle, while Huddersfield seek a response to a 2-1 defeat at Bromley.

The performances behind those score lines point strongly towards the visitors. Burton generated 0.99 xG at Plymouth and allowed 1.97 xGA. Plymouth created four big chances, but Jack Armer's 70th-minute goal secured all three points.

Huddersfield experienced the opposite outcome at Bromley. They produced 2.95 xG from 18 shots, with eight on target and nine big chances. Bromley scored twice from five attempts and 0.59 xG.

Those matches continue the wider pattern. Huddersfield lead League One with a +7.54 xG difference after generating 14.66 xG and allowing 7.12 xGA. They rank third for xPTS at 13.88.

Burton have scored 13 goals from 7.06 xG, while their opponents have created chances worth 11.82 xGA. The Brewers' negative difference of 4.76 places their results well above the level of their performances.

The home split offers little reassurance. Burton have scored nine times across four matches at the Pirelli Stadium despite producing 4.31 xG. Mansfield Town created 1.86 xG during a 2-2 draw on their latest visit.

Huddersfield average 2.06 xG away and created 5.33 across trips to Mansfield and Bromley. One point from those games does not reflect their chance production.

A return of 9/10 clears the minimum price and offers value on the division's strongest xG side against an opponent relying heavily on finishing.

Accrington Stanley v Cheltenham Town

Goals have followed Cheltenham Town throughout the opening eight rounds of League Two. They travel to Accrington Stanley after beating Chesterfield 2-1, extending a run where both sides have scored in every league fixture.

Seven Cheltenham matches have finished with at least three goals. They have scored 16 and conceded 12, producing an average of 3.50 goals per game. No League Two side has matched their 100% both teams to score record.

The away split supports another high total. Cheltenham's four trips have ended 2-1, 2-2, 3-1 and 1-1. Three cleared 2.5 goals, with the Robins scoring seven and conceding six.

Accrington's home record follows a similar pattern. Their first three games at the Wham Stadium produced two 2-2 draws and a 3-2 victory over Crawley Town. A goalless draw against Newport County ended the sequence, although Stanley still recorded four shots on target.

The expected-goals figures provide support from both directions. Accrington average 1.71 xG and allow 1.35 xGA at home. Cheltenham generate 1.57 xG per away match while conceding 1.29 xGA.

Cheltenham's victory over Chesterfield also exposed defensive concerns. They allowed 2.14 xGA, 11 shots on target and five big chances. Strong finishing and goalkeeping protected their lead after Chesterfield scored shortly after half-time.

Accrington drew 1-1 at Swindon Town in their latest fixture after Josh Woods scored inside 21 seconds. Their eight matches have produced 25 goals, with both teams scoring six times.

The 4/5 price implies a 55.6% chance. The scoring trends and combined chance data support a higher probability.
