Day one of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships was an exciting one, with Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic both experiencing wobbles before coming through their respective first-round ties.

It was a particularly bad day for British tennis, though, as zero Brits made it through to the second round, with the likes of Cameron Norrie and Harriet Dart falling at the first hurdle. With Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu both out injured, there is a chance we will see zero Brits in singles action after today.

Ahead of day two, check out our daily Wimbledon tips below.

Maya Joint to beat Serena Williams (4/6)

This match has been priced far too tightly for my liking. Yes, Serena Williams is arguably the greatest female tennis player of all-time, but she is now 44 years old and hasn't played a competitive singles match since 2022.

At the same time, Maya Joint is in a horrendous run of form, winning just one match since January, so it's probably the best draw that Williams could have received.

The American hasn't looked particularly impressive in her two doubles outings since announcing her return, though, and Joint should find an extra gear given the occasion.

Ben Shelton vs Otto Virtanen – Total sets 4 (7/4)

Ben Shelton is among the contenders to win Wimbledon this year, and he will have been buoyed by seeing Sinner and Djokovic struggle yesterday.

Shelton's first-round opponent, Otto Virtanen, is a handy player and has already played an impressive 14 matches on grass this year at a win rate of 79%. On only one occasion has he lost in straight sets on grass this year.

Shelton, a grass court specialist in his own right, has played eight times on grass this year and has won seven of those matches, including the final in Stuttgart against compatriot Taylor Fritz. However, of those seven wins, only five have been in straight sets, which suggests Virtanen does have a chance of nicking a set on Tuesday.

Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Alexander Bublik – Over 1.5 tie breaks (6/4)

Betting on tie breaks is always a good strategy at Wimbledon, and our 5/2 tip on over 1.5 breakers in the match between Arthur Rinderknech and Oliver Tarvert yesterday came in comfortably.

We're going with the same bet here, albeit at slightly worse odds, for the match between Thanasi Kokkinakis vs Alexander Bublik – two excellent servers.

There have been four tie breaks across the last nine sets Bublik has played on grass, while Kokkinakis has played in three tie breaks across his last three grass court matches.
