AFTER a busy night of Scottish League Cup action, there's only a couple of ties for punters to sink their teeth into today.

No Premiership sides are in action but Championship Arbroath kick off their season with a visit from Lowland League outfit Cowdenbeath.

Having come so close to a dream Premiership promotion two seasons ago, last term was something of a disappointment for Dick Campbell's side as they only just escaped relegation to League One.

But the Red Lichties are usually pretty solid at Gayfield and most firms have them as 1/5 hot favourites tonight.

Arbroath are usually pretty solid at the back so a win to nil could be the shout here at evens with McBookie.

The other League Cup game tonight is between two League One sides as FC Edinburgh host Kelty Hearts affair.

Kelty kicked off with a 3-1 loss to Championship Morton but took the lead and were in the game until Kirk Broadfoot’s late clincher.

FC Edinburgh didn’t play at the weekend and that could give Kelty the edge. The best option could be backing Hearts to score first and that pays 13/10 at Bet365.

In the Champions League qualifiers, Larne will be dreaming of an upset as they welcome HJK Helsinki to Northern Ireland.

The Finns only managed to win 1-0 at home and the crowd will go wild if Larne can score first tonight.

But I’ve a feeling Helsinki will still be too strong and they look decent value at 5/4 (Unibet) for a win on the night.

Ferencvaros drew a blank in the Faroes against Klaksvik last week but that was their first game of the season.

With another week of training behind them the Hungarians should get the job done at home and I’m backing them to score in both halves (20/21, BoyleSports).

Super Singles

  •  Arbroath win to nil (Evs, McBookie)
  • Helsinki to win (5/4, Unibet).

Any bookies offering odds on Goodwin losing his job at Dundee United before Xmas?

Absolute charlatan of a manager living of a half decent job at part time Alloa few years ago. Average at St Mirren & worse at Aberdeen,it’s now Dundee Uniteds turn to suffer with him at the helm. 3 wins in 14 competitive matches with 9 defeats.

Bet365 offering nothing but outrights on the title but United will struggle. Partick Thistle 2/1 to finish in the top 3 looks decent too me if Doolan can replace what he has lost this summer

Should be goals in Japan this morning in Celtics friendly with Yokohama F Marinos

Go to Odds Checker and you will get odds on this league…think Dunfermline each way at 10/1 are a cracking bet ..on them last season to lift the pot in League 1…they are are a great club with a brilliant loyal local support and most importantly, they have a mindset of getting into the Premier..

ChelseaGirl Marinos are halfway through their season and match fit while Celtic with both Johnston & Carter Vickers missing at the back alongside rustiness,so there should be goals at both ends

Where can I get odds for SPL Player of the year, it’s easily available for EPL, has anyone ever seen this market in the past ?

Bet of the season has to be Rangers to have a Trophyless Season 7/4 @ Hills.
Just because i support the better half of Glasgow, doesn’t mean im thinking with my heart.
After watching Rangers play Newcastle,i saw bits of Celtic in Newcastle ,now dont get me wrong,Celtic are miles behind in financial status of this club, but players running down both flanks had Rangers in trouble most times,as do Celtic play, fast down the wings. As i think Celtic will get another treble, means Rangers will end the season ..Trophyless

    • maccathered 10 months ago

Newcastle have become a good team and are one of the hardest to play against in EPL, they have pace in abundance and will cause a lot of teams problems, Rangers scored against them and a 2-1 defeat in a friendly will hardly damage their season, surely after Celtic did the treble last season Rangers will up their game. 7/4 looks a bit short.

      1
    • SmokeyJoe 10 months ago

The better bet has to be a Celtic treble at 10/1 because if Rangers do finish trophyless. Celtic have won 17 of the last 21,Rangers &St Johnstone have 2 a piece so its more than likely Celtic will win all 3

Nothing is won in pre-season,it will be a long hard season

Liverpool have sold Jordan Henderson to Al Ettifaq for £12 million.

    • maccathered 10 months ago

Henderson wouldn’t of got much game time this season, he would only have been a bit part player so it’s a good move for him, but the downside for him is he’ll probably lose his England place. Fabinho has also gone which means Klopp will have done a second rebuild after thus transfer window.
