There’s no Champions League this week, but there’s plenty of action on the cards for Tuesday, with three thrilling La Liga clashes to keep us entertained.
Rayo Vallecano will be looking to climb out of the basement against an inconsistent Espanyol, whilst Alaves will be aiming to hold on to their place in the top four when they host a struggling Valencia side. In the late kick-off, we have an interesting match between Elche and Real Madrid.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Espanyol (6pm)
Rayo Vallecano certainly know how to put on a show, but unfortunately the results are far from in their favour. No other team has conceded more goals than them – 14 in five matches so far.
Espanyol have shown no consistency whatsoever, with two wins, two defeats and one draw so far. The only thing that has impressed so far is their decent defensive play.
Rayo Vallecano, however, are quite impressive when it comes to their attacking play, scoring in every single match. They’ve even scored against both Real Madrid and Barcelona. In my view, there’s a good chance we’ll see goals at both ends here, given the home side’s lack of defence.

Alaves vs. Valencia (7pm)
Alaves got off to a phenomenal start to the season before suffering a surprise defeat against one of the league’s newcomers. That doesn’t change the fact that they’re third in the table and look very solid.
Valencia, on the other hand, are in the deepest possible slump, with four defeats in five matches and just one goal scored against 10 conceded. And right now, I can’t see how they’ll stand a chance against Alaves, who are phenomenal at home.
So far, they’ve won all three of their home games in convincing fashion, and they haven’t lost at home to Valencia in eight consecutive matches (W5, D3).

Elche vs. Real Madrid (8:30pm)
It comes as no surprise that Elche have had a difficult start to the season, but they could certainly have done better than going five matches without a win.
Real Madrid bounced back after their defeat to Betis and are once again heading in the right direction. However, they cannot afford any more slip-ups, particularly against a struggling side like Elche.
Anything less than a convincing victory will be a failure, though it is not out of the question given the 2–2 draw at this ground a year ago.
