T20 World Cup final tips

After a thrilling month of T20 cricket in India and Sri Lanka, the T20 World Cup final is upon us, and we are set for a potential cracker between New Zealand and India.

Both nations are well deserving of their place in the final on Sunday in Ahmedabad, with New Zealand coming through a relatively low-scoring semi-final against South Africa and India edging a high-scoring boundary-fest against England.

Which way will the final go on Sunday, though? Check out our T20 World Cup final tips below.

T20 World Cup final odds: Our three selections

Ishan Kishan top run scorer for India – 7/2

Ishan Kishan is having an excellent tournament with India, and I'm backing the wicket-keeper batsman to be his nation's top scorer on Sunday.

The 27-year-old has scored more runs than any other Indian batsman at the tournament so far, and although that may be skewed by the fact he has played in all eight matches, his average of 32.88 is impressive for this format.

What's more, Kishan has recent experience of putting New Zealand to the sword. In his most recent T20 clash with the Black Caps, Kishan scored a remarkable 103 as India posted 271 in their first innings. If he gets going, he will take some stopping.

Total match runs under 380.5- 5/6

India have been involved in plenty of high-scoring T20 matches over the past couple of years, not least their semi-final match against England, where a total of 499 runs were scored across both innings.

However, the bet here is to go under 380.5 runs to be scored due to the venue of the final. No team has posted a score of more than 193 in Ahmedabad during this World Cup, and given the stakes on Sunday, it feels unlikely that this will suddenly change.

New Zealand were explosive in their semi-final run chase against South Africa, but they haven't made it past 175 runs in any of the three occasions they have batted the 20 full overs at this World Cup.

Matt Henry top wicket taker for New Zealand – 3/1

Matt Henry is having a stellar World Cup for New Zealand and is their second-highest wicket-taker behind Rachin Ravindra.

What gives Henry the edge, for me at least, is the fact that he has improved as the tournament has progressed, which puts him in an excellent position going into a World Cup final.

Henry has taken five wickets across his last three matches, including figures of 2/34 in the semi-final against South Africa.
