Today’s Ligue 1 betting tips & predictions
Paris FC vs. Nice (2pm)
Paris FC and Nice had similar starts to the season, with their matches ending in goalless 0–0 draws.
This might suggest they played a superb defensive game, but the reality is that their opponents simply failed to create any serious chances either. At the same time, neither Paris FC nor Nice had any clear-cut chances.
That’s why I don’t think we’ll see anything spectacular when they meet. Last season, both matches ended with under 2.5 goals. I intend to back the same bet here.
Paris FC vs. Nice top betting tip: Under 2.5 goals
Rennes vs. Le Mans (4:15pm)
It has been nearly 15 years since Rennes and Le Mans last met, and they now face each other in search of their first win of the season, following their draws in the opening round.
The difference is that Le Mans drew 2–2 with Brest at home, whilst Rennes held the champions, PSG, to a draw – and that should motivate them. They are certainly a side capable of scoring plenty of goals, but their pre-season preparations revealed some serious defensive frailties.
That’s why I believe the best bet for this match is to go for goals, and I intend to back over 2.5 goals.
Rennes vs. Le Mans top betting tip: Over 2.5 goals
Monaco vs. Marseille (7:45pm)
Monaco and Marseille have both started the season with wins and have the chance to fight for an early lead in the table. The Monegasques beat Le Havre 1–0, whilst the Olympians secured a convincing 4–0 victory over Strasbourg.
In this case, Monaco are likely to be slightly more fatigued having also played in Europe during the week, which could create an opportunity for Marseille.
I see both teams as quite capable in attack and find it hard not to expect a high-scoring match. I wouldn’t risk picking a winner here, so I’m going for Both Teams to Score.
