Ligue 1 has three intriguing fixtures on the card this Sunday, and these matches will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the league table.

Auxerre vs. Brest (2pm)
Auxerre have finally secured a win, but this wasn’t because they’ve improved or anything of the sort; rather, it was down to Nice’s struggles.
On paper, Auxerre remain the team with the worst defence in the league, having conceded 11 goals in four matches, but at least they’ve scored in every game. Brest are slightly better defensively, but their form is inconsistent and it’s hard to expect a standout performance.
However, given the hosts’ defensive problems, we can expect at least one goal for Brest as well.

Nice vs. Lille (4:15pm)
Nice will be looking to turn their season around and climb out of the relegation zone, but they face the league leaders going into this round, who will be aiming to reclaim top spot following Monaco’s early victory.
So far, we really have nothing positive to say about Nice, as they have scored just one goal and are winless in four matches. More significantly, all four of those matches were against teams typically found in the bottom half of the table, whereas Lille are on a completely different level.
I expect the Mastiffs to capitalise on their opponents’ struggles and go all out for the three points.

Marseille vs. PSG (7:45pm)
Marseille are in their worst form for a long time, and another defeat would make this their worst start to a season. After four consecutive defeats, PSG are the last opponents they would want to face.
The Parisians are starting to improve and will certainly do everything they can to capitalise on the hosts’ slump. Given their positive head-to-head record in recent years, we can expect a thrashing.
The only silver lining for Marseille is PSG’s defensive struggles at the start of the season, so at least they may have a chance to score. But ultimately, I expect a win for the champions.
