Sunday’s La Liga schedule features four matches—two of which are crucial in the relegation battle, and two that will be of immense importance in the final stretch of the race for European qualification.
Neighbours in the standings, Getafe and Athletic Bilbao, will be fighting tooth and nail for the three points to keep their top-six hopes alive. Celta Vigo will try to hold onto that very sixth place against Valencia, while Sevilla and Alaves will try to pull away from the relegation zone.
At first glance, these may not be the highest-quality matches, but with our expert tips and predictions, you’ll be able to get the most out of them.
Today’s La Liga betting tips & predictions
Getafe vs. Athletic Bilbao (1pm)
On paper, Getafe and Athletic Bilbao are having virtually identical seasons. The only differences are in the goals, as Getafe has a far more solid defence but a much less prolific attack.
Right now, Getafe is in much better form, but the lack of goals in their matches makes the choice just as difficult. Even the bookmakers are offering ridiculous odds of around 7/20 for under 2.5 goals.
Our advice is to play it safe and not combine this match with others. However, only two of Getafe’s last 10 home games have featured goals from both teams, so we can test this option.
Getafe vs. Athletic Bilbao top betting tip: BTTS – No
Valencia vs. Celta Vigo (3:15pm)
Valencia’s improved form has pushed them to a relatively safe distance from the bottom, but they still need at least another 2–3 wins to feel secure.
Celta Vigo, on the other hand, are struggling, and after three consecutive games without a win, they are in danger of falling out of the top six. However, the fact remains that Celta has scored in every match they’ve played.
Also backed by Valencia’s improved attack, we can expect both teams to score and also to see over 2.5 goals. The last five matches between the two teams have covered both lines.
Valencia vs. Celta Vigo top betting tip: BTTS, Over 2.5 goals
Real Oviedo vs. Sevilla (5:30pm)
It’s not mathematically over yet for Real Oviedo, but before the break, they suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the other bottom-placed team in the league, so we don’t expect them to improve.
Sevilla are also in the struggle, but are in a far better position in the standings. This is a crucial match for them, and they won’t get an easier chance for three points for the rest of the season.
The first match between the two teams ended in a resounding 4-0 victory for Sevilla.
Real Oviedo vs. Sevilla top betting tip: Sevilla to win
Alaves vs. Osasuna (8pm)
Osasuna still have a chance to qualify for Europe, as they are currently just four points behind the top six. Alaves remain three points above the relegation zone, so this match is just as crucial for their goals.
Osasuna won the reverse fixture 3-0, but here’s the key point—they are among the four weakest away sides in the league and have scored the fewest goals on the road (9 in 15 matches).
Alaves aren’t exactly a formidable home side, but they still often manage to avoid defeat. By all accounts, this match looks like a draw to us, and we’d pick 1-1 as the correct score.
