After securing another hassle-free win with my 9/10 prediction for Bodo/Glimt last week, I’m back looking at the Norwegian Eliteserien, and specifically Sunday's clash between Brann and Rosenborg.
Brann vs Rosenborg (Sunday, 18:15)
Norway's top flight offers endless possibilities, thanks to the playing styles of most teams and the conditions under which matches are played. The league is great for corner and goal bets, and this week I reckon this is the match with the greatest potential.
Rosenborg are Norway's most successful team with 26 league titles, but the past few years have been slow due to the emergence of new contenders. The Troll Kids ended the previous campaign in 7th place, and had an even worse start in the current campaign.
Before the recent mid-season break, Rosenborg were in the drop zone. Since the restart, however, they are one of two teams that have won all matches, and are now a win away from the upper half of the table.
The way they’re winning is the most impressive part. Rosenborg have won three consecutive matches without conceding a goal, with an aggregate score of 10–0. It’s a fact, however, that they’ve played three teams from the bottom of the table, and I don’t expect them to carry on with the same momentum.
Their next away fixture is against Brann, who also look far better since the restart. Not to mention they are the third-highest-scoring team in the league this season. Brann’s matches have averaged a whopping 3.7 goals per game so far, across 15 rounds played, with a goal difference of 30–25.
They’re certainly not performing at the same level as last season, when they finished fourth, but it is precisely because of their recent performances in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers that I reckon they can contribute with goals in this match.
They played a gruelling second leg against U. Cluj on Thursday, which will certainly have an impact, but I'm confident that they will score at least one goal. Their last 14 matches in a row have gone over the 2.5-goal line, which is why the odds at most bookmakers are quite low.
That’s why I’m turning to the less conventional Asian Lines, and more specifically an Alternative Goal Line. The odds for Over 3.0 goals are currently 3/4 at Bet365, and that’s my main bet for this match.
If you haven’t used this type of bet before, Over 3.0 means that if there are three goals in the match, the bet is void and your stake is refunded, whilst if there are four goals, you win.
However, if your bookmaker doesn't offer Asian Lines, I'd bet on a combination between Over 2.5 and BTTS.
