Partick Thistle fans probably still have nightmares about the play-offs last year, but they can take another step to a chance of redemption with a win against Ayr United.

The Jags had a three-goal advantage on aggregate with 19 minutes left of the Premiership play-off in Dingwall against Ross County last season.

But they somehow contrived to lose the game and go out on penalties. However, they have a chance of erasing the nightmare this season and sitting in third place.

With two games left, a win against Ayr would be enough to seal third place because they are three points ahead of fourth-place Airdrie and have a better goal difference. That means one less game in the playoffs.

They've only lost once in their last nine games, and that was to second-place Raith Rovers. They hammered in-form Airdrie 4-0 last week.
Ayr can't reach the promotion play-offs and have a five-point cushion on the relegation play-off spot.

Thistle can get the better of Scott Brown's inconsistent Ayr at evens at Firhill.

Kelty Hearts were mentioned the other week in their late charge for a play-off spot in League One and they look an excellent bet to get the better of Montrose at 7/5.

They can draw level on points at least with their fourth placed opponents with a win at New Central Park.

Kelty have won four of their last six games and claimed a draw last week at runaway champions Falkirk. A terrible run of five defeats in a row may kill them in the end in their quest to edge into the play-offs, but they are certainly giving it a good go.

Montrose have enjoyed another good season, but are flagging at the wrong time. Last week's home defeat to Hamilton made it two points out of a possible 15.

And they've netted just three goals in that time, too.

Ross County look overpriced at finally ending Livingston's six-year stay in the top flight at 17/10.

With a gap of 12 points with five games left, it's all over anyway for David Martindale's side realistically, yet they are still favourites here.

They've won one home league match since October so their famously controversial artificial pitch has done nothing for them this season.

And County beat Rangers on the last game before the split so it's not a stretch to say Don Cowie's men can follow that up with a win in West Lothian.
