As the dust settles on another crazy transfer window the action returns to the football pitch today.
West Ham went top of the table with a win at Luton last night and today its Spurs’ and Man City’s chance to reach the summit.
Tottenham make the trip to Burnley and after making a raft of changes for their EFL Cup defeat in midweek Ange Postecoglou will revert to his strongest line-up in a bid to extend their unbeaten start to the league campaign.
The Clarets like to play possession based football, while Postecoglou , not too dissimilar in philosophy, loves to press, so it’ll be an interesting match-up and one that should yield goals.
A Spurs win and Over 2.5 goals appeals at 8/5.
Man City host Fulham and it should be a routine win for the champions. They’re 20 unbeaten against the Cottagers and have won the last 14 meetings between the sides.
Value is always hard to find in these City matches but it’s a game they should score at least a couple in. They’ve hit 2, 4, 2, 4, 2, 3, 5 & 2 in their last eight at the Etihad against Fulham. Three or more City goals pays just 4/6 so how about a 5/1 goalscorer bet?
With DeBruyne injured and Gundogan gone, Rodri has stepped up to the plate on the goalscoring front. He’s already scored as many Premier League goals as he managed last season and is well priced at 5s to continue his Midas touch in front of goal this afternoon.

A flurry of new arrivals at both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest means its anyone’s guess who’ll line up at Stamford Bridge. Forest look to have recruited well and if they can gel quickly could catch out the Blues who still look in a bit of disarray.
But we should be in for a good match in the Amex for the early evening match where Brighton and Newcastle meet. Both suffered home defeats last week but have been among the teams that have caught the eye early in the season.

In Scotland there’s little standing out in the Premiership but Dundee Utd should prove too strong for Airdrie in the Championship. Louis Moult is starting to look too good for this level and he can help the Arabs to all three points at Tannadice.

Queen’s Park might be top of the table but six of their have come against Arbroath. They face a tough test at Raith Rovers who look in good shape on and off the park at the moment and could be a good bet at 11/10.
All is now well at Inverness at the moment and Dunfermline could take advantage at 21/10. The Pars were unfortunate not to take all three points at Tannadice a few weeks ago and if they can turn in a similar performance in the Highlands they could edge Billy Dodds closer to the exit door at struggling Caley.
Stirling v Hamilton is match of the day in League One. The access are the only team in Scotland with a 100% record but Stirling have been impressive this season and this will be a stern test for John Rankin’s side. The Binos are tempting at 13/5.
Down in League Two money has come from Forfar who were 19/10 to win at hapless Clyde but they’ve been backed in to 6/5. Still backable but the value is disappearing fast. Likewise Stranraer, who are always tough to beat at Stair Park. Peterhead make the long trip to Ayrshire today but it’s likely to be fruitless one and the hosts can land the spoils at 11/10.

A better night in the football again. Despite 3/6 winners the profit was just under 2 units. Really frustrating as it could so easily have been the clean sweep. Luton were denied a pretty blatant penalty in injury time which Morris would have taken and that would have landed his prop bet. Roma were 2-0 down and played against 10 men for over 35 minutes but could only manage 2 shots on target which ended up costing those selections with the match ending on 6.

Anyone else noticed Morcambe centre half and club captain Farrend Rawson is suspended for today’s match against Salford? Could pave the way for Salford doing what they do best away from home and scoring goals.
Seems really strange how the bookies have priced up over 2.5 match goals at almost even money considering Morcambe are a completely different side at home compared to away. They beat Bradford 3-0 here just a fortnight ago they beat Walsall 2-1 and a 0-0 draw with Notts County. Going back into last season in league 1 they scored in 10 out of 12 of their home games including putting 5 past both Bristol Rovers and Burton.
Salford away from home this season scored 2 at Forest Green, 4 at Tranmere, failed to score against Grimsby but played with 10 men for over 40 minutes. Back end of last season their away goals read 3, 3, 1, 3, 3, 3. Not sure how their midweek shock win against Leeds will effect them . Confidence be definitely very high after winning on pens but maybe a bit of fatigue could come into play
Farrend Rawson will be a massive miss for Morcambe today at the back I’m pretty sure they’ll concede at least a couple. Salford brought in a couple of attacking full backs/wing backs yesterday no idea if they will be in the squad but if either starts they can definitely help.
Over 3.5 match goal at 9/4 could be a nice bet at decent odds.

Leverkusen have started the season on fire and are expected to comfortably beat Darmstadt this afternoon. Should really be a case of how many they are able to score. I expect Darmstadt will sit back and try and defend with 11 men behind the ball for as long as possible so it may take Leverkusen a little while to break through. With how they now play under Alonso even if they do go in front I expect them to continue pressing for more goals. So I like the look of the home side to have a fair few shots. Cheslea have had a good number of shots so far this season and I am expecting that trend to continue today. They had 19 last time out against Luton and continued to attack even when increasing their lead. Enzo Fernández is a player I have backed a couple of times recently & since Caicedo has come into the team it has allowed him to get further forward. Against Luton he had 4 shots so I like him to have at least 3 again today.

I would be shocked if Alcaraz or Medvedev dropped more than a set and both should really be winning in straights. Sabalenka has looked very good so far and meets a player she beat 6-0 6-2 at the same tournament last year. Not expecting such an easy win but should still win 2-0. Kasatkina faces Minnen who has done very well to get to this stage but Kasatkina is just simply the better overall player. I would be shocked if she does not win at least a set.

Baez has now won 12 matches in a row but this should be the end of the line. On clay he may have the chance of an upset but on a hard court Medvedev should win this one comfortably. Until recent weeks the results for Baez on hard courts were pretty grim reading. This year he has lost to Garin 7-6 6-3 in Miami, 6-1 6-2 to Fritz in Indian Wells, 6-4 6-4 6-4 to Kubler at the Aussie Open, 7-6 6-1 to Shelton & in 3 sets to Martinez. Overall Baez has won just 13/37 matches on hard courts & 7 of those have come in the last 2 weeks. He now faces a player who loves the surface and has an impressive 75% win record winning 252/335 matches on hard courts. At 1.80 there is just about enough value for me on this to make a play.

Well I didn’t see that coming with how it went in the 1st half! Brighton with 12 shots and 16 total match shots.
Wasn’t able to watch the 2nd half but once I saw the score was 3-1 I was fairly confident that the Brighton & total shots selections both came in. Perhaps even the clean sweep. Then to see that Brighton only had 3 shots in the 2nd half is a strange one. Ends up wiping away all of the profit from the early matches today which is a little frustrating.
