Saturday’s Bet of the Day of September sees me turn my attention to the Scottish Championship, and there is one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Greenock Morton welcomes Partick Thistle to Cappielow on Saturday afternoon, and I’m expecting goals between these two attack-minded sides.
Dougie Imrie’s hosts have scored 17 goals across their opening eight Championship and League Cup fixtures this term, with 10 of those coming at home. The Ton have found the back of the net in all bar one of those eight matches – striking on multiple occasions in five (63%) of them – and they will look to breach a Thistle defence that is yet to register a clean sheet in any of their opening eight fixtures this season, conceding 14 goals.
Kris Doolan’s visitors have scored 13 goals across their opening eight league and cup fixtures this campaign, with six (46%) of those coming across their three Championship matches. The Jags have also found the back of the net in all bar one of their opening eight contests this term – bagging a double in five (63%) of them – and they will be confident of troubling a Morton defence whose only clean sheet this season came against League Two side Stranraer in the cup, shipping seven goals across their opening three Championship fixtures.
Bet of the Day
Over 2.5 Goals has landed in all eight of Greenock Morton’s Championship and League Cup fixtures this season, whilst each of The Jags previous seven have produced a minimum of three strikes – and given three of the four meetings between the pair last season saw at least three goals – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be another three in Greenock on Saturday.
