THE group stage of the Scottish Cup League Cup always throws up a few surprises as the big boys get up to speed in what are essentially pre-season warm-ups.
We saw a few shock results last weekend and in midweek as the likes of Dundee United and Motherwell failed to beat lower-league opposition on the road.
But most of the Premiership sides have been pretty slick so far – and they've been dishing out some hammerings to the minnows.
Hibernian have been the most ruthless, netting five times in both of their games, and it has been a positive start to life as permanent boss for David Gray.
The Hibees now travel to Fife to take on League One side Kelty Hearts and we could see a few goals again if Gray's side show the same intensity.

Kelty Hearts v Hibernian Top Betting Tips
Kelty Hearts could only draw 1-1 with League Two Elgin in their League Cup opener so it's no surprise to see them as Betfred's 10/1 outsiders today.
Although Hibs conceded against Queen's Park in midweek, it came with the final kick of the ball and they looked pretty comfortable at the back. So a win to nil for Gray's side looks decent value against Kelty at 23/20.
We could see a lot of corners on the tight pitch and over 4.5 first-half flag kicks pays 5/6 at SkyBet.
East Kilbride v Aberdeen Top Tips
We could also see a few goals as Aberdeen take on an East Kilbride side who slumped to an embarrassing 8-0 loss to Championship side Airdrie in midweek.
Kilby are managed by Mick Kennedy, the man who masterminded Darvel's Scottish Cup shock against the Dons a year ago. But if his East Kilbride side play as badly as they did in midweek, it could get ugly against Jimmy Thelin's men.
The new Pittodrie boss made a promising start last weekend as his side eased to a 3-0 victory on the road at League One Queen of the South.
Aberdeen are just 1/20 at Betfred for another victory and even a win to nil is tiny at 8/15. The Dons finished the job early in Dumfries last week, with all three goals coming in the first half.
Backing most goals to come in the first 45 minutes in this one pays 15/8 and that might stand a chance if they fly out the traps again.
Dundee United v Ayr United Top Tips
Dundee United bowed out in the group stage last term and have left themselves with a mountain to climb after losing to Falkirk in this season's opener.
Jim Goodwin's men followed that up with a comfortable win over Stenhousemuir and Group B is now wide open after Ayr beat the Bairns.
Somerset Park boss Scott Brown has now had a summer to work with his squad and it will be interesting to see how they get on in the Championship this season.
United still don't convince in defence so I fancy both teams to score in this one at 5/6. Combining that with over 2.5 goals boosts the odds to 117/100 with McBookie.
Ross County v Raith Rovers Top Tips
There's a repeat of last season's Premiership play-off final in Dingwall as Raith Rovers seek revenge against Ross County.
The Staggies had too much firepower for Rovers in that clash as they eased to a 6-1 aggregate win so Don Cowie's men look good value at 19/20 for another victory.
Raith will have a go so it should be a decent watch and over 3.5 goals pays 13/8.

Do you think liverpool will finish top four this season ?
I certainly hope so mate. Liverpool have a good squad of players and I’m hoping they bring in a top class defensive midfielder. Klopp left the club in good shape so hoping Slot can fill the void he left, big shoes to fill though.
You would think so after finishing 14 points in front of 4th placed Villa last term,however there’s the introduction of a new manager with a new style….at 1/2 it’s a bit skinny.
Elsewhere I like the look of Iraola’s Bournemouth too come out on top of the 3 Southern Teams at 13/8 – Brighton 4/7 & Southampton 8/1

Joe slot sets up.the same style as Klopp that’s why Liverpool hired him 1/2 for top for isn’t a bad price to be fair. Everton to get relegated could be a very good bet if the expected players depart.
Macca I fully expect Liverpool too finish in the top 4 but at 1/2 it’s not a value market for me. Unless Arsenal find a top drawer number 9 I see no other winner than City and I don’t see anyone else finishing above Arsenal so the 5/2 forecast result is better value.

Scottish league cup is notoriously difficult to predict as generally used as pre season friendlies, but going for goals might be way to go, picked out a treble that looks decent value.
Clyde to score against Motherwell looks good at 3/4, scored five midweek and Motherwell struggled at montrose.
Hibs scored 5 in opening 2 group games and look like they want to put a marker down so over 2.5 team goals away to Kelty looks solid at 4/7. Finally Partick thistle to score over 2.5 team goals against an Edinburgh city side that looks like cannon fodder for season ahead.
Clyde to score, Hibs + 2.5 tgls and Partick +2.5 tgls pays just under 3/1.
