There’s nothing better than a Saturday in the Bundesliga, with no fewer than six matches on the card once again, featuring most of the top teams.
Following the surprise victory over Leverkusen, all eyes will be on Elversberg, whilst the usual favourites for a top-four finish face some tough challenges.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Elversberg (2:30pm)
Elversberg caused the big upset of the opening round by beating Bayer Leverkusen 3–2. Now they can dream of anything, with a match against Borussia Monchengladbach looking like a fantastic opportunity.
The hosts started with a heavy defeat against RB Leipzig, which wasn’t unexpected but was shockingly poor. They’re unlikely to face quite such difficulties against the newcomers, but we should bear this in mind nonetheless.
In my view, the best option here would be for both teams to score. I can see Elversberg capitalising on the hosts’ mistakes, but I also expect the reverse to happen.

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Union Berlin (2:30pm)
Bayer Leverkusen probably played their worst half of football in the last five years against Elversberg, yet they still almost managed to turn things round in the second half.
Union Berlin kicked off their season with a draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring three goals in the process – which was impressive. It won’t be quite so easy for them to score three away at Leverkusen, though.
Die Werkself have five wins and just one defeat in their last eight matches against Union Berlin, and after the first round they can no longer afford any slip-ups. In my view, we’ll see a far more organised Leverkusen side.

Hoffenheim vs. Dortmund (2:30pm)
Hoffenheim are hosting Dortmund in search of a win following a poor start to the season and the three goals they conceded against 1. FC Köln.
They won the same fixture a year ago, but overall in recent years, BVB have seven wins in their last 10 head-to-head matches.
More importantly, in my view, eight of the last 10 matches at this ground have ended with both teams scoring. Hoffenheim are generally a formidable home side, and I reckon they’ll give it their all in their first home game of the season.

Paderborn vs. Freiburg (2:30pm)
It has been six and a half years since the last Bundesliga match between Paderborn and Freiburg, and back then their encounters were always explosive and full of goals.
It seems quite possible we’ll see something similar now, because Freiburg are in absolutely phenomenal form, having scored 16 goals in their last four matches across all competitions.
Paderborn’s first match ended 0–0, but that’s completely out of the question against Freiburg. In my opinion, it will be a thriller, but I also believe that Freiburg will win.

Werder Bremen vs. RB Leipzig (2:30pm)
Werder Bremen will be hoping that their return to the Weserstadion will help them secure a win, but RB Leipzig are one of the toughest challenges in the Bundesliga, especially when they are in the form they are in at the moment.
RB Leipzig secured a classic 3-0 victory a week ago, whilst Werder suffered a humiliating defeat against Freiburg. Looking back at the history between the sides, the hosts have managed just two wins in 19 competitive matches against RB Leipzig.
By contrast, RB have racked up a total of 12 H2H wins, and I believe they have the chance to get their season off to a perfect start.

Schalke vs. Bayern Munich (5:30pm)
A home fixture against Bayern Munich is both the toughest challenge and the biggest celebration, especially as this is Schalke’s first home game in the Bundesliga after a three-year absence.
Unfortunately, the Bavarians look as dominant as ever, and Schalke could start the season with two defeats. Bayern Munich have recorded 10 consecutive wins against Schalke in the Bundesliga, and in their last seven matches against them, they haven’t even conceded a goal.
Anything is possible, but in my view the Bavarians will run them ragged again, so I’m going for over 2.5 goals for the visitors.
