PLENTY of Scottish fans will be cheering on Australia tonight as they bid to pull off one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history.
But the bookies don’t fancy their chances against defending champions France, with McBookie pricing the Aussies at 9/1.
With 17 of Graham Arnold’s squad playing in either the SPFL, the A-League or England’s second tier, it’s hard to give them much of a chance.
I’d expect the Aussies to park the bus so France -3 in the corner handicap looks good at 11/10 with Bet365.
Denmark face Tunisia in the other Group C clash and the Danes are McBookie’s red-hot 8/15 favourites.
Kasper Hjulmand’s side impressed at both Euro 2020 and in the Nations League so they should have too much class for the North Africans.
Joakim Maehle was brilliant down the left flank at the Euros so I fancy him for an assist today at 7/2 with Unibet.
Group C also gets underway today and all eyes are on Argentina as Leo Messi and Co face Saudi Arabia.
Lots of people have tipped the Argentines to go all the way, myself included, and the opener looks like a bit of a mismatch.
Messi is odds-on for anytime scorer so I’m backing Lautaro Martinez instead, with the Inter striker 11/8 at SkyBet for a goal.
Mexico face Poland in the other match and it could be decisive in the battle for a place in the last 16.
The teams look pretty well matched so I’m on the half-time draw in this one at a best 49/50 with Unibet.
