West Ham United will be hoping last week's dramatic win over Tottenham sparks a Premier League great escape but it will count for nothing if they fail to follow it up with another victory at home to Sunderland.

The Hammers were starting to look like a lost cause after being cut adrift in the bottom three but they now have a bit of hope after moving just five points behind Nottingham Forest.

They need to start building some momentum and this is the kind of fixture West Ham must win if they're to have a chance of staying up.

But it won't be easy against a Sunderland side who head into the latest round of fixtures sitting just three points off the top four.

The Black Cats have been one of the stories of the Premier League season and last weekend's win over Crystal Palace made it just one defeat in eight games.

Stunning home form has been the biggest reason for Sunderland's success though and they haven't won on the road in the Premier League since October.

So that will give West Ham further hope as they bid to make things really interesting at the bottom end of the table.

How the bookies view it: Hammers with the edge

Despite sitting in the bottom three, it's West Ham who are the favourites for this one at a best 31/20 with BetMGM. Sunderland are 19/10 with the same firm and the draw pays 23/10.

Recent head to head: Back to square one

These sides met on the opening day of the Premier League season and Sunderland's 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light set the tone for both clubs' campaigns. But the Hammers had been on top before that, going eight games unbeaten in this fixture.

Players to watch: Summerville warming up

Crysencio Summerville is starting to show the kind of form that convinced West Ham to spend big to prise him away from Leeds. The winger has scored in his last two games and is a tempting 9/4 with Paddy Power to score or assist.

Brian Brobbey is a great focal point for Sunderland's attack and his physicality could upset a West Ham defence that has looked weak all season. The powerful Dutchman is 7/4 at Bet365 to score or set one up.

Probable line-ups

West Ham have a pretty healthy squad but playmaker Lucas Paqueta appears to be on his way out of the club and is unlikely to feature.

Sunderland have all six of their Africa Cup of Nations call-ups back in the squad but Bertrand Traore, Arthur Masuaku and Aji Alese have injury issues.

West Ham United: Areola, Mavropanos, Todibo, Wan-Bissaka, Scarles, Fernandes, Soucek, Summerville, Castellanos, Pablo, Bowen.

Sunderland: Roefs, Ballard, Alderete, Mandava, Mukiele, Hume, Sadiki, Le Fee, Xhaka, Brobbey, Mundle.

Anything else catch the eye?

Sunderland have been one of the toughest teams to break down in the top flight this season but they've found clean sheets hard to come by of late, conceding in their last four games.

West Ham's last five matches have all seen over 2.5 goals, with BTTS landing in four of those games, so it bodes well for a decent watch.

Over 2.5 goals pays 11/10 at Bet365 and you can boost the odds to 11/8 at Betfred by adding on BTTS.

We saw 12 corners when these sides faced off at the Stadium of Light on day one, with seven of them going to the Hammers. That makes over 10.5 match corners a decent option at 13/10 with Coral while over 5.5 West Ham flag kicks is 7/5 at Paddy Power.

Tomas Soucek should keep his place in West Ham's midfield to counter the physicality of Sunderland. The Czech looks good at 5/4 with Bet365 for over 1.5 fouls.
