MANCHESTER CITY will be looking to preserve their perfect start to the Premier League season when they pay West Ham United a visit on Saturday afternoon.
Following last season's historic treble, Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team have hit the ground running in pursuit of what would be record-breaking fourth top-flight title on the trot.
The Citizens signed off for the international break in style as star striker Erling Haaland netted a second-half hat trick in a 5-1 thumping of Fulham.
As such, City are the only side left in the Premier League with a 100% record , though they could face a stern test at high-flying West Ham this weekend.
After heading into August without any new signings, there were growing murmurs of discontent amongst the Hammers faithful , however an unbeaten start to the season has suddenly flipped the mood music at the London Stadium.
Last time out, David Moyes’ men earned a third consecutive top-flight triumph with a 2-1 win at Luton Town, on a night where both of my recommended bets copped at Kenilworth Road.
Outright Betting
West Ham United enter their second home game of the season as big underdogs at 6/1 (PaddyPower) while an all square affair in east London is also deemed unlikely at 7/2 (PaddyPower).
Manchester City, who claimed top honours in both meetings between the pair last season, are heavy 4/9 favourites with William Hill.
Betting Angles
Manchester City are too short to side with here, but backing the visitors to win and Erling Haaland to score will bring about an enticing even-money (Bet 365) play.
After smashing in a record-breaking 36 Premier League goals last season, the Citizens' sharpshooter has picked up where he left and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Haaland has already hit the back of the net six times across City’s opening four league games of the season, including his aforementioned hat-trick against Fulham last time out.
While West Ham have made an impressive start to their own campaign, they have failed to file a clean sheet in four attempts, with the likes of Bournemouth and Luton breaching the Hammers’ backline.
In fact, David Moyes’ rearguard has registered just one shutout across their last 11 top-flight tussles dating back to last term, and that defensive vulnerability could be exposed against a deadly Man City attack.
This Bet Builder would have paid out in both meetings between the pair last season, and it would have also provided profit from three of City’s four Premier League wins this season so far, and there is plenty of scope for the same wager to land at the London Stadium this weekend.
Elsewhere, I’ll also head to the player card market and take West Ham’s Emerson to tackle his way into trouble at 7/2 with PaddyPower
The Italy international has been booked in all but one of his Premier League appearances this season so he looks worthy of interest to pick up another card here against opposition of a higher calibre to that of which he has come up against already this season.
