Norwich City vs BurnleyEnglish Premier League, KO: 17:30 Jul 18, 2020, Carrow Road
BURNLEY'S bid for a Europa League slot looks destined to come up short but the Clarets should still end the season with a flourish.
This trip to doomed Norwich is followed by a visit from Brighton on the final day so Sean Dyche's men will be targeting six points from their final two games.
I fancied the Clarets in the double chance market when they faced Wolves in midweek and that bet came up right at the death thanks Chris Wood's stoppage-time penalty leveller.
That finale summed up Burnley's never-say-die spirit and they have now gone six games unbeaten since crashing 5-0 at Manchester City in their first match after lockdown.
Norwich have lost every game since football's return but at least showed some fighting spirit in a narrow 1-0 defeat at Chelsea in midweek.
My tip of a Blues win to nil came up that night and Daniel Farke's shot-shy team have now scored just twice in their last nine games.
How the bookies view it
I thought Burnley would be odds-on for this one but they are available at 13/10 with Betfred which looks great value. Norwich are 5/2 with Unibet to end their 10-game run without a win while the stalemate is 12/5 at Genting.
Recent head to head
There has been little between these sides in recent seasons, with the last six meetings producing two wins apiece and two draws. They have faced off twice already this season, with Burnley winning 2-0 in the league at Turf Moor (below) before the Canaries got their revenge with a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup at the same venue.
The last meeting at Carrow Road was also in the FA Cup, with Norwich winning 4-1 back in 2012. Burnley haven't won in Norwich since a 4-1 triumph in 2006.
Players to watch
Burnley hitman Wood netted both goals in that win over Norwich earlier in the season and goes into this game on a high after his penalty in midweek. The striker is 11/8 with Betfred for anytime scorer and could get some joy in the air against a weak Canaries defence.
Youngster Adam Idah has come off the bench for Norwich in the last two games and could get a start here. The striker is 16/5 with 888Sport to get on the scoresheet and that's worth considering if he gets a start.
Anything else catch the eye?
Burnley haven't scored more than once in a game since battering Bournemouth 3-0 back in February while Norwich can't buy a goal. So I'd be surprised if there was a glut of goals here and under 2.5 strikes pays just 31/40 at Betway. Try under 1.5 goals which pays a bit better at 12/5 with Bet365.
Betting against both teams scoring also appeals and it's priced at evens with BetVictor. A header has been scored in the last two meetings of these sides and Olivier Giroud nodded home Chelsea's winner against Burnley in midweek. So I can see another header going in here but it hasn't been priced up yet. I have requested odds and will post an update.
