Manchester City vs Liverpool

, KO: 16:30 , Etihad
Liverpool

Manchester City and Liverpool will look to keep pace with Premier League leaders Arsenal as they meet at the Etihad on Super Sunday.

Manchester City bounced back from their defeat at Villa Park as they defeated Bournemouth 3-1 last Saturday at the Etihad.

After losing two of their opening three Premier League fixtures this season, Pep Guardiola’s men have gone on to win five of their next seven (W5-D1-L1) to move up into second position in the table, six points behind leaders Arsenal.

The Citizens were also in action in the Champions League in midweek and maintained their unbeaten start with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Champions Liverpool made a perfect start to the defence of their Premier League crown as they won each of their opening five matches.

However, Arne Slot’s men surprisingly went on to lose each of their next four, but did at least manage to return to winning ways last weekend with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa to move them up into third position, a point behind their hosts.

The Reds followed that win up with a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, making it three wins from four in the competition (W3-D0-L1).

How the bookies view it: City favourites

Manchester City have been installed as favourites for this clash, with BOYLE Sports pricing a home success at 20/23.

Liverpool are 11/4 with the same firm to make it three wins in a week, whilst the draw is 14/5.

Head to head: Four unbeaten for Reds

Liverpool are unbeaten in each of their previous four meetings with Manchester City, winning 2-0 home and away against the Citizens last season.

Players to watch: Haaland to score again?

Erling Haaland has had a sensational start to the season, even for his high standards, as he has bagged a remarkable 18 goals across his opening 14 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions.

The Norwegian international has only failed to get on the scoresheet in two of those matches, so it’s understandable that he is as short as 8/11 at Bet365 to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.

Bet on Haaland to score at 30/1 odds at TalkSPORT BET

The Norwegian is as safe bet as it can be to score given his record this season, so if you can see Haaland scoring against Liverpool too, TalkSPORT BET have a great offer for you.

This offer is for new customers, so make sure to use our promo link to register on the site and once you do, you will get the chance to bet on Haaland to score at 30/1 odds.

Predicted line-ups:

Manchester City will be without midfielder Mateo Kovacic due to injury, whilst Rodri is a doubt.

Liverpool will once again be missing Alisson and Jeremie Frimpong, whilst Alexander Isak is a doubt.

Manchester City: Donnarumma, Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly, Gonzalez, Cherki, Silva, Foden, Doku, Haaland

Liverpool: Mamardashvili, Bradley, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Wirtz, Ekiteke

Anything else catch the eye?

Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals pays a measly 4/6 at BOYLE Sports, and whilst there’s a decent chance we could see goals here, I’m not willing to go with the 11/10 for Over 3.5 Goals.

Conor Bradley has been booked seven times already this season for club and country, and there’s every chance he’ll pick up another one on Sunday should he be tasked to keep an eye on the tricky Jeremy Doku.

Phil Foden has been carded in each of his last two and three of his past five appearances in the Premier League – as well as getting booked against Liverpool at Anfield last season – and the 13/2 on offer at BOYLE Sports for a repeat is far too large.
