Manchester City's shock run without a win has now stretched to six games so the Premier League champions couldn't have picked a worse time to take on league leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
Pep Guardiola's side just can't get out of their tailspin and their fragility was summed up on Tuesday night when they let a 3-0 lead slip at home to Feyenoord, with the Dutch side scoring three times in the last 15 minutes to pinch a draw.
The horror run of results can no longer be written off as a blip and if Manchester City lose at Anfield it will see them fall 11 points behind Liverpool and send their title odds soaring further.
The main reason City already find themselves eight points adrift is Liverpool's consistency under new boss Arne Slot, with the Reds dropping just five points all season.
The Anfield side weren't at their best last weekend as they ground out a 3-2 win at Southampton but they followed that up by beating European champions Real Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday to continue their perfect start in the Champions League.
Liverpool have risen to the occasion for all their big games so far this term and Slot will be looking to take advantage of City's fragile confidence to make a statement of title intent.
How the bookies view it: Pep's slump to continue
It has been a long time since Manchester City were as big as 39/20 for any Premier League fixture but Kwiff make them outsiders here after that dismal run of results. Liverpool are the 49/50 favourites and a draw pays 11/5.
If you switch over to Betano though, you can get 40/1 on your pick of either team to win. That's right: sign up as a new customer, opt in and place a £1 bet on Liverpool or Man City. You'll get paid out in free bets if your bet wins. At the risk of stating the obvious, the value pick with that offer is Liverpool given their far shorter odds.

Recent head to head: Anfield of screams for City
Anfield hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Manchester City, who have won just once on their last 23 visits. But Guardiola's side are unbeaten in the last four meetings, with two wins and two draws. Both Premier League games last term ended in 1-1 stalemates.
Players to watch: Mo out to prove his worth
Mo Salah is bumping his gums over the lack of a new deal at Anfield but the Egyptian is certainly doing all he can on the pitch to boost his negotiating power. Salah has 12/13 goals from 18/19 appearances this season and is a decent 8/5 with Bet365 for another goal here.
Manchester City would be in even bigger trouble without the goals of Erling Haaland. A midweek double took the Norwegian's tally for the season to 17 and he's always worth backing when odds-against for a goal. Kwiff price the City talisman at 11/10 for anytime scorer here and those odds are pretty tempting. Even more tempting though is the 50/1 available for UK residents signing up to Parimatch prior to kick off on Sunday. Full details right below.

Probable line-ups
Manchester City are set to be without Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku, Rodri and Oscar Bobb again but Ruben Dias made a welcome return to the bench in midweek.
Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of defenders Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradly after they both picked up knocks against Real Madrid. Alisson, Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa look set to miss out once more for Liverpool.
Liverpool: Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Salah, Nunez.
Manchester City: Ederson, Walker, Gvardiol, Akanji, Ake, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Grealish, Foden, Haaland.
Anything else catch the eye?
Manchester City are usually good value for corners and dabbling in that market brought up two bets for me in the thriller with Feyernoord. We saw an average of 13 corners across the two meetings last term so that suggests over 11.5 corners stands a chance here at 6/5 with Bet365.
These games were always thrillers when Jurgen Klopp was in charge and this should also be a good watch, even though Slot is a bit more pragmatic in his approach. Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals only pays 7/10 at Kwiff but over 3.5 strikes on its own pays 5/4 with the same firm.
This fixutre wasn't very fiery last term, with just seven yellow cards dished out across the two games. Betfred price under 47/5 booking points at 11/8 and the stats suggest that might be decent value.

I think this game screams out 2-1 pool. If they 2-0 up they will be happy to sit in n hit on counter n get the 3 points wrapped up or if it’s 1-1 with say 20 to go I think city would be torn between stopping the rot\another defeat n probably be unsure what to do and get suckered by pool who will be demanding a win to solidify the lead for the title, especially while city are at their weakest, as they won’t stay that way for much longer
