Germany and Netherlands continue their preparations for the European Championship as they square off in a friendly on Tuesday. Both teams often show plenty of attacking verve and should serve up goals in this one.
As hosts of this summer’s European Championship, Germany did not have to go through the qualifiers and had to settle for a string of high profile friendlies. Even at that, Julian Nagelsmann’s men have been far from their best, claiming just three wins from their last six matches.
One of those wins came last weekend as Germany claimed a 2-0 victory in France. Goals in each half from Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz were enough to earn them a win that could boost their confidence heading into the tournament.
Germany often look sharp going forward with the likes of Harvetz, Wirtz and Nico Fullkrug all impressive. However, they are often unconvincing at the back with Saturday's win providing their first clean sheet in the last 11 matches across all competitions.
Netherlands are also coming off a win as they eased to a 4-0 over Scotland last weekend. Tijani Reijnders’ effort earned them a one goal lead at the break while further goals from Wout Werghorst, Georginio Wijnaldum and Donyell Malen completed the rout.
The Dutch had a solid qualifying campaign, finishing second behind France in Group B. Ronald Koeman’s men have been in good form in recent times, winning their last four matches.
Like the Germans, Netherlands are also blessed with plenty of attacking quality with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Wout Werghorst and Donyell Malen all catching the eye. They have picked up a few one-sided results lately with a 6-0 victory in Gibraltar preceding the win over Scotland.
