Genoa are in desperate need of a win to boost their chances of survival as they welcome Lazio for a Serie A fixture on Sunday. The visitors have shown some good form lately and should continue their recent dominance over Genoa.
Having spent much of the season in the relegation zone, Genoa will be targeting a late run of positive results to boost their survival hopes. Sitting just three points from safety, they are not down and out just yet.
The problem for Genoa is that they have shown very little fight, claiming just two wins from their 31 matches this season. They head into Sunday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Verona in their previous Serie A fixture.

The good news for Lazio is that they have been in good form in recent weeks, winning three of their last four matches. They earned a 2-1 victory over Sassuolo in their previous Serie A fixture with Manuel Lazzari and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic getting the goals.
Lazio have also generally impressed on their recent travels with the 3-0 loss to bitter rivals Roma, their only defeat in their last five away matches. They have beaten Salernitana, Fiorentina and Cagliari in that run, with all three matches ending 3-0.

Lazio have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 28/29 by SBK to claim the win. An unlikely victory for Genoa is valued at 17/5 by SBK while a draw is set at odds of 12/5 by William Hill.
Recent head to head
Lazio are unbeaten in their last five matches against Genoa, claiming four wins in that run. They have also won the last two meetings and triumphed 3-1 in the reverse fixture back in December.
Players to watch
While Genoa are struggling in attack, Lazio are among the leading scorers in Serie A, led by Ciro Immobile, who has found the net 21 times this season. The striker also has four goals in his last five matches against Genoa and is priced at 13/10 by Paddy Power to get on the score sheet.
Given Genoa’s attacking problems, Lazio will also be targeting a clean sheet. The duo of Franco Acerbi and Patric in defence have ensured clean sheets against the likes of Fiorentina and Cagliari. A clean sheet for the capital club could be backed at 6/4 with BoyleSports.
