Rangers will look to bounce back from cup and European disappointment on Sunday as they travel to Dens Park to take on struggling Dundee.
Four days on from their agonising defeat to Celtic in extra time of the League Cup semi-final, Rangers’ pointless start to their Europa League campaign continued against Roma.
First-half goals from Matias Soule and Lorenzo Pellegrini gave the Giallorossi a comfortable 0-2 victory on an evening where both of my selections landed.
Despite those defeats, Danny Rohl still boasts a 100% record in the Scottish Premiership as Gers boss, defeating Kilmarnock 3-1 at Ibrox and winning 0-1 in the capital against Hibs.
Dundee slipped down into the relegation playoff spot last weekend, as they were thrashed 4-0 away at leaders Hearts.
Steven Pressley’s men have now lost four of their previous five Premiership matches, but they have won each of their last two at home, including a memorable 2-0 victory over reigning champions Celtic.
How the bookies view it: Gers favourites
Rangers are favourites to record their third consecutive Premiership victory, with BOYLE Sports pricing an away success at just 2/5.
Dundee are 5/1 underdogs with the same firm to claim a third successive home victory in the Scottish top flight, whilst the draw is 10/3.
Head to head: Rangers dominance
Rangers are unbeaten in each of their past 18 meetings with Dundee, winning 14 of them (W14-D4-L0).
However, two of the last three have been 1-1 draws, including at Ibrox at the beginning of the season.
Players to watch: Another caution for Cornelius?
Derek Cornelius joined Rangers in the summer on loan from Marseille, and he has already been booked four times in just 11 appearances for the Teddy Bears.
That includes one in each of his previous three appearances, and the Canadian international is an appealing 13/5 at BOYLE Sports to be shown a card should he come back into the starting lineup.
Predicted line-ups:
Dark Blues boss Steven Pressley appears to have a fully fit squad for Sunday.
Rangers will still be without defender Dujon Sterling through injury and midfielder Thelo Aasgaard through suspension following his red card against Celtic last Sunday.
Dundee: McCracken, Astley, Robertson, Koumetio, Wright, Digby, Hamilton, Samuels, Westley, Congreve, Murray
Rangers: Butland, Tavernier, Djiga, Souttar, Cornelius, Meghoma, Raskin, Barron, Gassama, Moore, Miovski
Anything else catch the eye?
Dundee have fired in six goals across their previous three Premiership matches at Dens Park – including two in their victory over Celtic – and can trouble a weak-looking Rangers defence.
Prior to their clean sheet at Easter Road – in which goalkeeper Jack Butland saved a late penalty – Both Teams to Score had paid out in each of The Teddy Bears’ previous 16 Premiership encounters on the road.
Both teams have gotten on the scoresheet in each of the last three meetings between these two sides, and a repeat pays 5/6 at BOYLE Sports, which appeals to me here.
