COVENTRY CITY and Manchester United meet at Wembley on Sunday afternoon in the second of this weekend’s two FA Cup semi-final ties.
The winners of this clash will return to the national stadium for next month's end of season showpiece to face either Manchester City or Chelsea, who do battle in the opening semi-final on Saturday.
Coventry, who sit eighth in the English Championship, will be looking to claim the scalp of another Premier League side after staging a dramatic late comeback to defeat Wolves 3-2 at Molineux in the previous round.
That triumph sent the Sky Blues into the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1987, a year in which they famously went on to lift the trophy.
As for Manchester United, they will be looking to salvage another substandard season by keeping their only hopes of silverware alive by making it to successive FA Cup finals.
Erik ten Hag’s team are currently sitting seventh in the Premier League table and are without a win in four matches after last week’s 2-2 with Bournemouth, in a game that brought up my Bet Builder.
Outright Betting
Coventry City have been chalked up as understandable 11/2 (PaddyPower) underdogs while the 90 minute draw is also deemed unlikely at 4/1 (PaddyPower) with the same firm.
Manchester United are red-hot 2/5 (PaddyPower) favourites to get the job done inside regulation time.
Betting Angles
Manchester United look vulnerable favourites here but I'm prepared to back them to win alongside Under 4.5 Goals at 21/20 on Boylesports.
Whilst the Red Devils have flattered to deceive again for the most part this term, they will likely now put all of their eggs in the FA Cup basket, and their superior class should tell against second tier Coventry.
The Sky Blues have hit a little bit of a sticky patch of late in their push for a playoff place in the English Championship, having lost three of their last four matches.
Having said that, Mark Robin's side are well-renowned for being a well -oiled machine and they can more than hold their own against a United team who very rarely blow teams away.
As such, I'm prepared to bundle up a Man United success alongside Under 4.5 match goals, a combination that has clicked in 16 of the Red Devils' 19 victories across all competitions this season so far.
It's also worth pointing out that 12 of Coventry's 14 league and cup defeats this season have featured fewer than four match strikes, and that only adds to the appeal of supporting the aforementioned wager at Wembley on Sunday.
As for a player-based selection, I'm also keen to back Coventry's Ben Sheaf to commit two or more fouls at even-money (1/1) on PaddyPower.
The all-action midfielder is averaging 1.4 fouls per-game in the English Championship this season, including 2+ in three of his last five outings, so he looks enticingly priced at evens (PaddyPower) to be reprimanded at least twice against opposition of a higher calibre.
