It looked like the Hammers would make it three league wins in a row when they raced into a 2-0 lead away to Chelsea last weekend.

But they conceded three times in the second half, bringing up two bets for our man Greg, and that has left them six points adrift of safety.

Nuno Espirito Santo has West Ham in much better shape though, and they will fancy their chances against a Burnley side who appear doomed to the drop.

Monday's dismal 3-0 loss away to Sunderland has left Scott Parker's men 11 points behind fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest.

The Clarets have generally been competing well but they just can't find a way to win games, with just three victories from their 24 league fixtures so far.

They will need an incredible finish to the season to avoid dropping back to the Championship, but a win in this game would at least give them a glimmer of optimism.

How the bookies view it: Hammers with the edge

With West Ham in decent form, they're favourites for this one at 6/5 with Unibet. Burnley are as big as 12/5 at BetMGM and the draw pays 5/2 with the same firm.

Recent head to head: Seven and hell for Burnley

West Ham won a 3-2 thriller when these sides met earlier in the season and that made it seven games without defeat for them in this fixture.

Players to watch: Summer loving

Crysencio Summerville is in a rich vein of form for West Ham, with the winger scoring in his last four matches. The former Leeds United man looks good at 23/10 with William Hill to score or assist.

Burnley's biggest problem this season has been the lack of a regular scorer. Jaidon Anthony and Zian Flemming lead the way in the Premier League with just five goals each and Anthony looks their best bet for a goal here at 16/5 with BetMGM.

Probable line-ups

Burnley have a long injury list with Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer, Zeki Amdouni, Josh Cullen, Joe Worrall, Flemming and Mike Tresor set to miss out.

West Ham only have keeper Lukasz Fabianski injured but defender Jean-Clair Todibo is banned after his red card against Chelsea.

Burnley: Dubravka, Esteve, Tuanzebe, Humphreys, Walker, Ugochukwu, Florentino, Pires, Edwards, Anthony, Broja.

West Ham United: Areola, Diouf, Mavropanos, Kilman, Wan-Bissaka, Summerville, Fernandes, Bowen, Soucek, Castellanos, Pablo.

🔍 X-pert tip from The Betting Desk
Don't know your xG from your xP? We've got you covered with our data-led X-pert tip!

MFT's X-pert tip: Over 2.5 goals

Burnley sit 19th and the league data explains why. At home they average only 0.78 xG while conceding close to 2.00 xGA, the weakest home defensive profile in the division. They have lost the home xG battle in ten of twelve matches and sit near the bottom of the home table with two wins from 12.

Shots inside the box against remain high, with recent splits showing around fourteen conceded per game, and shots on target allowed consistently exceed shots on target for. Their home xPTS return is among the lowest in the league and aligns with actual points output.

West Ham arrive 18th but matches involving them remain high event. Their away xGA stands at 1.71 and 14 of 24 league matches have gone over 2.5 goals. They concede territory and SIB volume but carry more attacking threat than Burnley, reflected in higher away xG and better xPTS output. Neither side controls game state, and both defensive records point toward goals at both ends rather than a low scoring contest. .

Anything else catch the eye?

Even though West Ham lost against Chelsea, it was another decent display, while Burnley were so poor in their loss to Sunderland. So I fancy the Hammers for a big three points and adding on over 1.5 goals boosts their odds to 8/5.

Midfielder Mateus Fernandes has been showcasing his long-range shooting of late, and he followed up a goal against Sunderland with an effort on target at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder is 9/4 at Bet365 to get another effort on target here.

Both teams will be going for the win in this one so it should be an open game. That makes over 10 corners a decent option at 11/10 with Bet365.
