Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool

, KO: 13:30 Jan 29, 2023, Amex Stadium
Liverpool

AN all-Premier League affair takes place in the FA Cup on Sunday as Brighton & Hove Albion lock horns with Liverpool at the Amex.

The Seagulls dished out a 5-1 mauling to Middlesbrough in the third round, while the Reds navigated a replay with Wolves to set up this tie.

Jurgen Klopp's side could have a taste for revenge here after crashing to a 3-0 defeat in the Premier League at this venue a fortnight ago.

Liverpool have since played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea, so they will be keen to give their season a much-needed shot in the arm when they return to the south coast this weekend.

Brighton, meanwhile, are having a season to remember, with Roberto De Zerbi's side currently surveying the Premier League standings from the lofty heights of sixth-place.

Last time out, Albion showed plenty of fighting spirit and attacking quality to fight back for a 2-2 with Leicester City at the King Power.

Outright Betting

The bookies are finding it hard to separate the teams, with Brighton narrow favourites at 6/4 (UniBet) while an all square affair can be backed at 13/5 (Bet 365).

Following their aforementioned loss at the Amex a couple of weekend's ago, Liverpool arrive in East Sussex as marginal 8/5 (UniBet) outsiders.

Betting Angles

Goals are usually on the agenda when either of these teams are involved and there is plenty of scope for a repeat here, however, both BTTS and the goal line are a touch too skinny to get involved with at 8/13 and 4/6 respectively.

I'll therefore dip into the Bet Builder function and throw together Over 2 Goals and Over 0 First Half Goals to bump the price up to a backable 4/5 (Bet 365) play.

While Brighton have upped their attacking output under Roberto De Zerbi's tutorship, keeping clean sheets remains an issue, with the Seagulls shipping at least one strike in nine of their last 10 outings across all competitions.

As for Liverpool, they themselves have hardly been reliable for keeping the back door locked this season, with last week's shutout against Chelsea their first defensive success across their last nine top-flight tussles.

However, at the other end of the park, both of these teams have had plenty of success from an attacking standpoint, with the pair collectively failing to score in just eight of their 38 combined Premier League outings this season so far.

With this in mind, coupled with the fact that this Bet Builder would have banked in 10 of Brighton's last 12 games in all competitions, siding with the same formula at the Amex on Sunday stands out at 4/5 (Bet 365).

With a high-scoring contest anticipated, I'll also jump into the anytime goalscorer market and back Brighton's Solly March to score at 11/2 with William Hill.

Albion's utility man has scored four goals across his last five Premier League appearances – including a brace against Liverpool just two weeks ago – so he looks overpriced to repeat the trick here in a cup tie that both teams are likely to approach with a relaxed attitude.
