Bosnia-Herzegovina and Romania go in search of their first win in this year’s UEFA Nations League as they face off in a Group B3 fixture on Tuesday. Beyond the UNL, both teams have generally struggled to find their best form lately and look set to cancel each other out.
Bosnia-Herzegovina began their campaign in Group B3 of the UEFA Nations League with a 1-1 draw in Finland. They fell behind just before the break and looked on course for a defeat before Smail Prevljak struck the equaliser deep into added time.
That result means Bosnia-Herzegovina have now claimed just one win from last seven matches across all competitions. The good news for Ivaylo Petev’s men is that the win came in their previous home fixture as they edged out Luxembourg 1-0.
Although Bosnia won their last home fixture, their recent record in front of their fans has provided little to cheer about. The result against Luxembourg is the only win in their last five matches on home soil with three draws and a 2-2 draw with Kazakhstan among the results in that run.
Romania made an even worse start to their UEFA Nations League campaign as they were beaten 2-0 by Montenegro in their opening fixture. They were poor throughout the contest and could only muster a single attempt on target throughout the 90 minutes.
Like Bosnia, the Romanians have also found things difficult lately and have claimed just one win from their last five matches across all competitions. Edward Iordanescu’s men head into Tuesday’s clash winless in their last three matches, with two defeats in that run.
Things are just as bad for Romania on their travels as they have won just once in their last five away matches. However, they have had two stalemates in that run, playing out a 0-0 draw with North Macedonia before battling to a 2-2 scoreline in Israel.
How the bookies view it
Bosnia-Herzegovina have the edge among the bookies and are priced at 13/10 by SBK to claim the win. A victory for Romania is valued at 5/2 by Unibet, while SBK is also offering odds of 28/13 for a draw.
Head to head
Romania have a 3-1 advantage from four previous matches with Bosnia-Herzegovina. The most recent meeting between both teams was a European Championship qualifier back in 2011 which ended 3-0 in favour of the Romanians.
Players to watch
Edin Dzeko had a quiet outing last time out in Finland but still remains the biggest attacking threat for Bosnia-Herzegovina. The striker should have support from Smail Prevljak, who grabbed the equaliser in that fixture, and both men can ensure the hosts find the net on Tuesday at 2/7 with Paddy Power.
Although Romania could only muster one attempt on target last time out, they still boast some useful players in attack. The trio of Valentin Mihaila, Andrei Ivan and Florin Tanase should continue in attack and can ensure the visitors find the net at 4/9 with Paddy Power.
Anything else catch the eye?
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Romania are eager to jump-start their UNL campaign and should serve up an open, end to end contest. Both teams could be backed to score at 15/16 with SBK while over 2.5 goals is valued at 6/5 by BetVictor.
Although goals are expected on Tuesday, the clash is likely to come to life after the break, which means the second half can be tipped to produce the most goals at 6/5 with Paddy Power.
