BORUSSIA Dortmund's season is in danger of unravelling and another defeat at Monchengladbach would all but extinguish any lingering hopes of claiming the Bundesliga title.
Their midweek clash with Bayer Leverkusen was a must-win but Dortmund instead crashed to a 2-1 defeat as two of my tips came up.
It has left them 10 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich and another loss in this battle of the Borussias could see them tumble down the table.
Monchengladbach currently sit down in seventh but they are only a point behind Dortmund in a congested Bundesliga so a victory here would lift them above Edin Terzic's side.
And Marco Rose's men are one of the form teams in Germany's top flight, having recovered from a December slump to post four wins and a draw in their last five games.
How the bookies view it
Borussia Monchengladbach are outsiders at a best 11/5 with Betway, while Dortmund are 39/29 with SBK. Don't rule out the stalemate and it's priced 11/4 at BetVictor.
Recent head to head
The reason the bookies make Dortmund favourites is because they have an incredible record in this fixture, winning the last 12 meetings including a 3-0 home triumph earlier this season.
You have to go back to 2015 for Monchengladbach's last win and there hasn't been a stalemate since 2013. Last season, Dortmund won 1-0 at home in the league then 2-1 on the road (below) while also racking up a 2-1 victory at the Westfalen in the Cup.
Players to watch
Alassane Plea caught my eye in the Champions League for Monchengladbach, scoring a hat-trick against Shakhtar then a double against Inter. The big striker has gone off the boil of late, drawing a blank in his last six games, but I'm going to have a punt on him sparking back to life.
Plea, who has been linked with a move to West Ham, is 12/5 with Skybet for anytime scorer and that looks decent value.
Dortmund star Erling Haaland (below) has drawn a blank in his last two games but hasn't gone three matches without scoring all season. So I'm backing the Norwegian for anytime scorer, which is a best 21/20 at Skybet with all other firms pricing him at odds-on.
Anything else catch the eye?
Goals have almost been guaranteed in this fixture, with the last three meetings all producing over 2.5 strikes. A repeat here pays a best 11/18 with SportNation while both teams to score is 1/2 with most firms.
Neither of those bets offers great value so I'm going to back the second period to be the highest-scoring half instead at evens with Paddy Power as that bet has come up in the last four meetings. Over 1.5 second-half goals has also trapped in the last three meetings and pays a best 11/14 at SBK.
