Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig

, KO: 14:30 May 8, 2021, Westfalenstadion
RB Leipzig

BORUSSIA DORTMUND and RB Leipzig have an intriguing Bundesliga dress rehearsal for the DFB Cup Final next week in Berlin.
While Leipzig are assured of the runners-up spot in the league with three games left to play and of course, their manager, Julien Nagelsmann, will be at Bayern Munich next season too.
But for the hosts, they are desperate to get a Champions League spot for next season and it would be a disaster if they missed out and almost certainly spell the end for the hottest talent in Europe – Erling Haaland.
They sit a point behind Eintracht Frankfurt in fifth place and need to overtake them with just those three games to do it.
The home side are in excellent form in the league though and have won four in a row at just the right time. Leipzig have been far more inconsistent recently and it will also be interesting what team Nagelsmann sends out with that Olympiastadion showdown to come.

How the bookies view it

The hosts are 23/20 favourites with William Hill's. Leipzig can be backed with Tonybet at 23/10 and the draw is 11/4 with 888sport.

Recent head to heads

Dortmund inflicted defeat on Leipzig in a January clash when they won 3-1 in East Germany with Haaland netting a brace and Jadon Sancho scoring too. Dortmund have a good record in this fixture and are unbeaten in the last six meetings between the teamss.

Players to watch

Haaland was rested in Dortmund's last game – a 5-0 thrashing of Holstein Kiel, but scored a double in their last Bundesliga game at Wolfsburg and has already scored two against RB this season. However, he's a little bit short at a best-priced 8/11 with Paddy Power to score anytime so Giovanni Reyna could be value at 4/1. He scored twice in that tie against Holstein.

Emil Forsberg is 16/5 to score for Leipzig with Paddy Power. He takes their penalties and has scored in both of their last couple of matches.

Anything else catch the eye?

Dortmund have conceded over a goal a game at home and Leipzig have scored almost two per game on average away from home this season so there should be goals here.
Edin Terzic's side are desperate for the win and are in good form so the 15/8 for them to win and over 2.5 goals with bet365 looks to be value.
They are also fast starters and have netted in the first half in their last six games. They were 5-0 up at half time against Holstein and that was the way it stayed. The 9/4 on Dormund's highest scoring half being the first half with bet365 could be the shout.
