Bolivia vs Scotland

, KO: 21:00 , Sports Illustrated Stadium
Scotland

Scotland will take on Bolivia at the Sports Illustrated Stadium on Saturday night in their final fixture before their World Cup opener with Haiti.

Scotland finally put an end to their 28-year hiatus from the World Cup finals, as they finished above Denmark and Greece in their World Cup qualifying group.

Steve Clarke’s men then lost friendlies against Japan and the Ivory Coast by a 1-0 scoreline at the end of March, and it looked as if they were on course for another defeat as they trailed World Cup debutants Curacao in a friendly at Hampden last Saturday.

However, a red card for Dick Advocaat’s visitors before halftime changed the game, with the Tartan Army eventually running out 4-1 winners.

Bolivia looked on course to end their 32-year absence from the World Cup finals – which was also held in the USA – as they beat Suriname in their World Cup playoff semi-final by two goals to one.

However, La Verde were beaten by Iraq by the same scoreline five days later, meaning they now start preparing for the 2028 Copa America.

How the bookies view it: Scotland favourites

Scotland are clear favourites to make it two wins in the space of seven days, with bet365 pricing them at just 1/3 to secure the victory.

Bolivia are 13/2 underdogs to bounce back from that heartbreaking loss to Iraq, whilst the draw is 7/2.

Head to head: First-ever meeting

Saturday night will be the first-ever meeting between these two nations.

Players to watch: Future looks bright for Findlay

Findlay Curtis came off the bench just before halftime last weekend following the injury sustained by Billy Gilmour, and he made an immediate impact, scoring the equaliser three minutes later.

The Rangers youngster also won a penalty in the second half, and he is an appealing 11/10 at bet365 to Score or Assist in New Jersey.

Predicted line-ups:

Bolivia will be missing a few of their key players for various reasons, with the likes of Diego Medina, Dieguito Rodriguez, Moises Villarroel, Moises Paniagua, Ramon Vaca, Jesus Maraude and Hector Cuellar all absent.

As mentioned above, Billy Gilmour picked up an injury in that win over Curacao last weekend, and will now miss the World Cup finals.

Bolivia: Viscarra, Macazaga, Torrez, Haquin, Fernandez, Tome, Vaca, Melgar, Terceros, Centella, Nacif

Scotland: Gunn, Hickey, Hendry, McKenna, Tierney, Gannon-Doak, McTominay, McLean, Curtis, Adams, Shankland

Anything else catch the eye?

Scotland were far from impressive against Curacao at Hampden last weekend until that red card for the visitors just before halftime, before they ran out comfortable winners.

Steve Clarke’s men should prove to be too strong for their opponents, but I’m not expecting it to be a thriller, and combining a Scottish Win & Under 4.5 Goals pays an appealing 5/6 at bet365.

Newly-signed Rangers striker Lawrence Shankland scored twice in that win over Curacao last weekend, and he is an appealing 1/1 to score should he lead the line from the start.
