European football may be over for 2021 but there's one final act before the new year and all eyes will be on Nyon this morning for the knock-out stage draws in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League.
Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea will learn their opponents in the Champions League and the nature of the seeded draw means that the latter can only be drawn against one of four teams; Ajax, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Lille – no prizes for guessing which of that quartet Thomas Tuchel would prefer.
Man City lead the outright market at 7/2, followed by Bayern Munich at 43/10. 6-time winners Liverpool are next at 11/2. Ajax could be a lively outsider at 16/1 after an impressive group stage.
Barcelona look weak favourites in the Europa League, as short as 6/1 in places. They're joined at the top of the betting by Borussia Dortmund and if they can keep Haaland fit they could be a worthy each-way investment. Serial winners Sevilla are 11/1 and you wouldn't back against them going the distance again.
West Ham (12/1) and Rangers (100/1) are the sole British representatives remaining in the competition.
The Europa Conference League is a wide open betting market and there are some intruguing teams in the competition; Roma 9/2, Leicester 10/1, Rennes 13/1, Spurs 14/1 make up the top four in the betting. Celtic fans might be keen on a bit of the 33/1 available on the Hoops who exited the Europa League despite picking up nine points in the group stages.
Unfortunately Monday night's match between Sheffield United and QPR has been postponed so we're relying on Tolu to deliver the goods in the Italian capital where Roma host Spezia and Greg's knowledge of Bulgarian and Israeli football to deliver a Bet of the Day winner.
