Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.

While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.

We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.

We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.

For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.

Our bet in the Cardiff vs Wrexham games was all done by half time which is just the way we like it. Onto the Premier League opener.

Bet 13 – Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough – Saturday 22nd August at 3pm

Will Lankshear has been the story of Middlesbrough's opening weeks, two goals already, 1.23 xG, six shots including three on target, and seven touches in the box against Lincoln City, a genuinely sharp, direct threat leading the line for a side many already rate among the division's best this season.

Tony Mowbray, preparing to face his boyhood club this weekend, gave about as informed a scouting report as you'll find anywhere. Calling Middlesbrough “very, very talented” and “almost unique in this league,” he admitted, “it's a difficult game for us to prepare for” and that Boro “will undoubtedly ask questions of us,” a specific, current assessment from a manager who grew up supporting, playing for, and later managing this exact club.

The underlying numbers back it up too. Middlesbrough's xPTS figure last season, 80.21, landed almost exactly on their actual return, a genuinely elite process rather than a flattering scoreline, and their opening weekend performance continued that pattern, 2.23 xG to just 0.62 conceded in a win over Lincoln, with five big chances created in that match alone.

With Lankshear in this kind of early form, a squad already creating chances in bulk, and Mowbray himself openly wary of the threat coming to Ewood Park, this looks like a well supported case for Middlesbrough finding the net again.
