IT'S the final game before the split in the Premiership and faltering Hearts can return to winning ways at home to Motherwell.

Derek McInnes' side has seen their lead reduced to just a point ahead of Rangers and three of Celtic with six games left.

That's been almost entirely down to Hearts' poor away form as they proved against last week when they were held at doomed Livingston.

But they are just about getting the job done in Gorgie where they have won their last four games 1-0 at Tynecastle.

And it seems to be a good time to face Well.

After a season of being rightfully widely praised for their brand of easy-on-the-eye football, their exertions seem to have caught up with them somewhat after four games without a win.

They have lost at Dundee and at home to Falkirk in that spell and Hearts actually played some of their best football for weeks on Sunday, with the return of a fit Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin making the difference.

If they can tighten up their defence, McBookie.com's price of almost evens – 19/20 – seems a solid shout for the hosts.

Aberdeen vs Hibs predictions

Hibs can make it a capital double at 11/10 with McBookie.com when they face Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The Leith side have caught fire at a good time of the season and are six games unbeaten, which includes three clean sheets in a row.

They have beaten the Dons home and away already this season and seem to be well placed to overtake Motherwell into that fourth spot.

There's been plenty written about the demise of the Pittodrie side and there is no doubt they are in a relegation dogfight.

The problem is they have too few players willing to put up any kind of fight and they are truly lamentable when it comes to dealing with set pieces at the back.

Hibs could add to the gloom in the north east.

Partick Thistle vs Dunfermline predictions

Partick Thistle can take advantage of Dunfermline's injuries and priorities on Saturday at McBookie.com's evens.

The Jags need the win to keep in touch with St Johnstone at the top of the Championship and have a superb home record – they are unbeaten at Firhill this season in the league.

The Pars are flying after their sixth win in seven games, with the other being a draw in midweek, but they have injuries to Andrew Tod, Zak Rudden, Olly Thomas, Rory MacLeod and Callumn Morrison.

They can't realistically catch Thistle, their play-off place is secure and Neil Lennon will go all out to keep his best team fresh for next week's Scottish Cup semi-final grudge match against Falkirk, with another midweek game to come next week before that too.
