Last Player Standing is a betting competition where a group of people each put in a stake and predict one team to win in a competition each week.
If that team wins, they progress into the next round, if they draw or lose, they are eliminated.
Each team can only be picked once throughout the game; eg, if you pick Liverpool to win in week one, you cannot pick them again during that edition of Last Player Standing.
The goal is to be the final player left at the end of it all. The winner takes the full pot.
This weekend, the Tyne-Wear derby takes centre-stage at St James’ Park on Sunday, whilst Tottenham Hotspur welcome Nottingham Forest to North London in a real six-pointer.
This week’s best Last Player Standing tip: Fulham
Fulham will look to give their European hopes a boost on Saturday afternoon as they welcome relegation-threatened Burnley to Craven Cottage.
After seeing their two-game winning run coming to an end with a 0-1 loss at home to resurgent West Ham United, Fulham went to the City Ground and took home a point, as they ground out a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
Marco Silva’s men have been fairly strong at home this season, picking up 26 points from a possible 45 (W8-D2-L5), with that record changing to W6-D0-L2 when welcoming teams below their 11th position in the Premier League table.
Scott Parker’s visitors were held to a goalless draw of their own last week, as they drew at home to draw specialists Bournemouth.
The Clarets have now won just one of their previous 21 Premier League encounters (W1-D7-L13), leaving them in 19th position, nine points adrift of safety.
MFT’s top Last Player Standing pick: Fulham
It’s a pretty tough card this week in the Premier League, with Fulham being the most obvious choice to win this weekend.
As alluded to, Marco Silva’s men have been strong at home when welcoming teams below them in the table, and will be confident of reviving their European hopes against a Burnley side with just one win in their last 21 Premier League matches.
What’s more, the Cottagers won the reverse fixture 2-3 at Turf Moor in December, and look set to do the double over them on Saturday.
