Rizzel only had one selection on Tuesday which was unfortunately a losing one.
I missed the race, however, Rizz informed me that the horse was brought very wide into the straight which didn't help its chances but ultimately never looked like landing a blow.
Cairnzy's Tips
Humble Spark 10/11 – Newcastle 1.33
My first selection of the day isn't the most exciting of prices at 10/11 but I do fancy the chances of this horse getting the job done.
I actually backed this horse last time out when winning at this very same course at the end of December last year, and I have to admit, I was quite impressed in how Humble Spark saw out that particular contest. My selection was ridden towards the rear of the field in a slowly run contest and encountered traffic problems when he tried to mount a challenge. The gaps did finally appear for Humble Spark as they entered the business end of the contest and he quickened up quite stylishly to get up on the line by half a length.
Jockey Paul Mulrennan is one of the best in the business at producing horses late from off the pace and I'm glad to see him back on board my selection this time around. My selection is up 2lb for that recent success which seems fair and a return to 1m4f looks well within reach given how well he stayed on last time out.
Percy Willis is a proven C&D performer and looks the main danger to Humble Spark in what looks a tight little contest on paper.
Transparent & Golden Thorn RFC – Kempton 5.30
Forecasts aren't my sort of bets, but I thought I'd throw up something different on the thread and chance my arm.
The two horses I liked in this contest were Transparent and Golden Thorn who I think will battle this contest out unless one of the new comers are to spring a surprise.
I'm not surprised to see Transparent marked up for favourite in this contest given the promise he showed on debut in October of last year. He should have learned plenty for that run and will likely progress further for the experience. The form of the debut run reads okay with the third coming out and winning next time out.
The other horse I liked was Andrew Baldings Golden Thorn and If I was to have a straight win bet on this race she would be my selection at more attractive odds of 5/1. Golden Thorn has had two career starts to date and she took a massive step forward from her debut effort to finish second at this very same course last month. Golden Thorn has plenty of pace about her and will more than likely be ridden prominently by jockey Haley Turner on Wednesday evening. The contest in which she finished second in was over 1m and she ran out of puff when entering the final furlong. Tomorrow's drop-in trip to 7f looks like the correct move, and she could take some pegging back if getting an uncontested lead.
Zoran 5/2 – Kempton 8.00
I spoke to Rizz earlier on and mentioned that I fancied Haaland for this particular contest but I've had a change of heart since then and I've back tracked on my initial thoughts.
The horse I've decided to go with is Emma Lavelles Zoran who I think should have a bit too much for this field. Zoran is a horse who is proven over further than today's distance of 2m and was last seen finishing a respectable third at this course last month in the Class 2 London Stayers' Series Handicap, a race that was eventually won by the now 96 rated Duke Of Oxford. Zoran ran a blinder on that occasion and was only railed in when entering the final furlong to go down by just over one length.
Zoran drops down into a class four for this contest and I think he should have too much for this field.
