Sean Bowen showed why he is going to be the champion jockey once again with a superb ride at Wetherby.
I don't understand how people aren't a fan of Sean Bowen. I think he's brilliant, and you get your money's worth every time he takes the ride on any horse, no matter the odds. He's strong in the saddle, and when you mix that in with his determination, horses win when they shouldn't.
Rath Gaul Hill managed to win on the line after jumping the last in pretty poor fashion. He had over a length to make up when landing over the final fence, and it didn't look likely till the last 20 yards.
Datsalrightcharlie 15/8 (1pt) – Huntingdon 2.45
In a small runner field like this race, you can expect to get some short odds available on a horse, but I don't think the bookies will be too skimpy on Datsalrightcharlie's price.
The odds haven't been compiled, but I'd expect to see him third in the market behind Dangerous Touch and Ballynaheer. The Olly Murphy horse ran well last time out, and the David Dennis' lad is having a great season with three wins already on the board.
We don't know if Datsalrightcharlie can jump a fence, but I feel like this is a race where you can take a punt. Dangerous Touch isn't a horse that wins too often, and looks like he'll prefer a slower surface. Ballynaheer could easily make all and land another win, but he is creeping up the handicap and might be prone to an improver on debut.
Datsalrightcharlie won on his hurdles debut at this track last March, but he didn't manage to get any further wins when he returned to the track in September. He ran with credit on a couple of occasions, but the quick transition to fences suggests that they believe he'll be better over the larger obstacles.
When horses make their chasing debuts, it's very easy to spot how the race is going to pan out after watching them jump the first couple of fences. Jamie Snowden is a great trainer, and Gavin Sheehan is back on board, so I'm confident in a big run.
To add to this, Jamie Snowden has a couple of strong chances at Hereford, with a better chance on paper than the ones at Huntingdon. Seeing Gavin choose the likes of Datsalrightcharlie is a very positive sign.
