Daily racing tips 3

Tipping horses can be cruel at times. You could have a winner look home and hosed, but then it gets nabbed on the line, like what happened with Hardy Du Seuil yesterday.

I can believe that it happened because it's just typical of when you're on a bad run for something like that to happen. The horse jumped the last couple of fences nicely and gave himself every chance of winning, but somehow the winner just kept finding and managed to take it off us.

As for Zhanma Enki, it really does confuse me when stuff like this happens. I don't expect every horse from Ireland to win, but I'd be expecting much better than what I saw from Zhanma Enki.

In hindsight, it wasn't a surprise given how much the horse drifted in the market. Out from 13/2 to 33/1 is quite a disgusting drift, which shows the stable knew the step up in trip was never going to suit, or they weren't trying. But why do they need to do it in the UK? They could have easily done this in Ireland. When a horse comes over for the trip, you assume that it's part of a plan, especially on the horse's handicap debut.

Havaila 3/1 (1pt) – Newbury 3.55

I've always felt like Havaila was a good horse, but had potential to be better. The reason why he has a solid strike rate for Gary Moore is that he was ahead of the handicapper, and since moving up the grades, he has travelled as he can still win races. His main issue has been that he can be too keen, and he doesn't always go through with it when the jockey asks questions.

He has been quietly campaigning this season, but did run well on his sole start in the 3m 5f National race at Windsor. He finished third that day, and I was surprised that he finished that high up, as he has never looked like the strongest of stayers.

With the comeback run being as good as it was, I think he has a massive chance in this race against some good handicappers. I see Brave Kingdom as the threat, as he made a return from a huge layoff and ran a brilliant race to finish a close second. However, I think Havaila is still a young horse and has more to give. Also, he runs off a lower racing weight.

With how things are going at the moment, I just hope he doesn't bounce back on his second run of the season after a fairly lengthy absence. However, I'm optimistic as ever and will be hoping he delivers the goods.
