Monday's runners were down to just one after Sievehill was a non-runner at Musselburgh.
There was a fairly big drift in the morning on Sievehill, so I wasn't surprised when he became a non-runner.
That left us with Koenigsstern at Fontwell. He didn't jump perfectly and made a bad error in the back straight on the final circuit, literally ploughing straight through the obstacle.
He got himself back into contention, but the winner showed I was wrong and is in cracking form.
I thought the winner won a poor race last time out, but it appears that Neil Mulholland has found the key to him, as he managed to win a second race in a row.
Love Me 11/1 (1pt) – Uttoxeter 3.00
This race is a strange one, as four horses are returning from big absences. Two horses have had over 700 days away from the track, and over a year for the other two. I would've been interested in the top weight, but Venetia's horses have been running poorly first time out this season.
Love Me caught my attention for small yard trainer Jo Davis. I thought this mare ran a nice enough race on her stable debut at Leicester last time out, and with that run behind her, she could outrun her odds.
I'm always wary of horses that leave big yards like Henry De Bromhead, as they must not rate the horse enough to keep them. However, Jo Davis has already shown she can get winners when acquiring for HDB, proven by Benvoy, who has won twice since moving in 2024.
Love Me's sole win in Ireland at Leopardstown is decent form, and if you read into it, it stacks up well.
The runner-up is now 20lbs higher in the handicap, and the third is 9lbs higher.
I thought she ran nicely enough last time out. She was kept very wide by Sam Twiston-Davies, and despite the RPRs of the race not being fantastic, I think the form will work out.
The winner was on a good mark with a 7lb claimer on board, and the way the runner-up travelled suggests he'll win soon.
It's Maisy 8/1 (1pt) – Uttoxeter 3.33
I was tempted to give Hard Dealt another chance after I tipped her up last time out, but I'm not sure the soft ground and further rain are going to be an advantage for her.
With the Parkinson & Smith yard absolutely flying, it might be worth giving It's Maisy a go at rather insulting odds.
I can sort of see why she is being overlooked, as she isn't in tremendous form. This is on the short side of what she'd want, but with the ground likely to get heavy, having the added stamina is only going to be a bonus.
She is a previous winner at the course and is a four-time winner, so she knows how to get the job done.
Her last win came off a mark of 92, which was effectively 89 due to a three-pound claimer, which means she is still well above her last winning mark. However, this race doesn't look to be the strongest, and given the yard is flying at present, she has to be worth a shot.
Just a pointer. Just because I advised winning only at each-way prices doesn't mean you can't do them each-way. Long term, I think straight wins are better for profit, and I'll only be going for each-way on enhanced places or 20/1 shots, etc.

Been given this horse last night, been told it’s there to win which in a handicap is half the battle. Doesn’t mean it’s going to win but at that price it’s worth a punt. Opened at 16/1 and got hammered into 8/1 within 15mins last night and has slowly drifted back out
Been given another horse tomorrow at Hexham will message on here tomorrow.
Just passing info on that I’ve been given 😊
